I haven't gotten to drive my Fiero much this summer. It has always been
good to me in the past but this year I had a problems.
First with the battery, swapped for a new one, then the radio went out
swapped in a CD player from a 99 Grand Prix.. a little long but fits with a
little encouragement and a wire harness. I had an aftermarket Kenwood before
that and the CD changer was a POS so went with the OEM style. Good but not
great like the newer vehicles have..but at least it's a CD player. Had to do
the subwoofer swap from Rodney Dickman...nice job on his part. I gotta say
everything I get from him is a great idea..Kudos Rodney!! The speaker sounds
great and took about 1/2 hour to install. It would be better with small
bolts and locknuts instead of self tapping screws though..easier to get the
top cover back on for alignment. the screws were just long enough and in the
right spot to get in the way.
That solved I then had the ignition coil go out while on the road..luckily
it started after about two hours waiting so I didn't have to tow it, got
that swapped out and it sat again for a bit.
So I hadn't driven for about a month took it out to get the oil changed and
after leaving the dealer the clutch slave cylinder (I think) goes out..damn
the luck. I could not shift out of gear so I go back to the dealer with the
emergency flashers on in 2nd gear...he tells me THEN oh yeah btw you were a
little low on transmission fluid...you think that might have been a good
idea to tell me BEFORE I left after the oil change? It's odd that it was
working just fine on the way there though then dies after they do the oil
change....coincidence..maybe. Anyway that is where I'm at now so she got
towed home and waiting for the slave cylinder to be ordered in. I found one
at the local auto parts store for $50 new (most places are asking $90 or
better). I have to wait till next weekend for it though. Hopefully I get to
drive it again before the snow hits
