Hello all,

I have a 23' 4K lb boat/trailer rig that I'm starting to tow with my
99 24V Cummins 2500 auto. I normally tow the boat 100-200 miles at a
time and am wondering if i should tow it in OD or not. I tried it
both ways and the only difference I noticed was an additional 1000 RPM
at 70 MPH 2000 Vs. 3000 RPM (approx, i can't remember exactly the
RPMs). Is it safe to pull a load that light in OD? No flames please,
I just need advice on what I need to do to get the most life out of
the auto tranny. It sure seemed 'wound up' without OD. Any
suggestions? BTW, I've got 35,000 miles on the truck and the tranny
has been serviced with complete fluid changes and adjustments twice.
