spare out as we RECOMMEND? Actually, it helps the rear end to come around
for power oversteer.

If I remember correctly from "how to drive fast 101", a *lighter* car is a
*faster* car.
Rear drivers like our bimmers can use that reduced weight in the rear for
throttle steering just like you described.
If you're *so* concerned about the extra 40 lbs. of weight in the rear
(which isn't of consequence for the reason you're talkin' about above) put
an extra 5.5 gallons of gas in the tank.

What does "piggy" mean, people who can afford BMW's are also fluent in
their native language. Judging by your previous posts, I must assume
English isn't yours, therefor can you help us out in understanding
you.

yeah, just the thing i'm waiting for, some asswipe in a 318 doing some goddamn
power oversteer rounding a corner and clipping me waiting for the light to
change.

The spare is most certainly designed as an integral part of the rear crush
zones. Removal will change the characteristics of these crush zones.
Whether this lessens your chance for survival in an accident is anyones
guess. This would depend on a lot of other things, such as severity of
impact, etc.
FWIW, Corvette's were available without a spare, if you choose this option,
the spare is replaced by a component that is slightly lighter, cheaper, but
maintains the cars crush zones. You are not left with an empty tub in the
rear of the car.

no empty tub there, it will be filled with all sorts of bass amps and such.
so not only is he a threat to himself, he can also be a noise polluter to the
rest of us.
we all REALLY need to hear his BOOM, BOOM BOOM in double-4 time, so don't scare
him out of doing it, ok?
M roadster does not have a spare, but comes with a repair kit in most of the
world, except the US, where it comes with lifetime roadside service.

my advice is to stop buying your car audio gear from Radio Shack.
and keep me out of your killfile, you might just learn a thing or two. even a
