I own a 1992 500SL with navy blue interior. I want to purchase the
proper form-fitting high grade sheepskin covers for the seats but a
friend of mine told me about her experience which has me concerned. She
went to her local MBZ dealer and selected the matching color for her '92
SL and was told that to be properly fit both seats would have to be
removed. She told me that the price for the covers was around $500 for
the pair. Labor would have been extra. My friend waited about three
months before deciding to go ahead with the planned purchase. She
ordered the seat covers and went back to the dealer for installation.
At first she was told it would take one hour. After two or three hours
she finally went to look for her car which she found parked off with
other cars in the service lot. She said the covers looked like they were
far too loose and baggy to be properly installed. She brought this to
the attention of the installer who said that they would stretch after a
few weeks. Fearing that they were too loose already she complained to
the manager who said that Mercedes Benz stopped making the two piece
(Seat and seat back) type covers and suggested that this was as good as
it could look. He said that they didn't take the seats out and he agreed
that the new style covers didn't look very good. My friend asked the
dealer to remove the covers. The dealer complied but my friend says
she's confused about what MBZ offers and why the service department at
her local dealer is so clueless.

My question is, where does a guy go to get authorized Mercedes-Benz
sheepskin seat covers that fit properly?

I saved this when about a dozen people at once raved
about these:

Kris:

I went with the Ramshead sheepskin covers. About $500 per set, but they
are custom fitted, 2 pieces. Andre does wonderful work, we loved them
so much on the Mercedes we had them done on the Volvo also. With proper
care, (Rotating them) we are told they will last us at least 6 years.

We live in SF so visited the factory in Sonoma Calif. Very professional
and clean operation. He even does sheep covers fro motorcycles and
also, for airplanes. In addition, he makes wonderful sheepskin slippers
in any size. Many colors are available from black to white. ANY hue
of tan also. Uses only the best New Zealand sheepskins. We love the
results and are extremely satisfied, -- expensive but we feel they are
the best.

No connection to this enterprise but very satisfied customers. By the
way Andre Moeckel, the owner is from Austria and drives an unasuming
1980 300 SD. I wandered over to this nice looking car and saw it has
435000 miles on it!!!
