Too far away! Is it me, or is the concept of 'first night' dying out?
I dunno it is pretty big in my circles, I don't know anyone who plans
on"watching the ball"

As a former resident of Western PA, I remember hearing that Bradford was
nicknamed the 'icebox of Pennyslvania' because of some of the lowest
recorded temperatures in the state. According to Wikipedia, that title goes
to Kane, PA, but to me it will always be Bradford.

Hmm, I'm about 700 miles south of that, and it's getting too cold for me
here. Today there was *ice* falling from the sky - and that's just wrong.
Need to move back to South Florida :-)

I did a show in Bradford in May. Late at night, I went outside to smoke
a cigarette & a black bear ran right by me. I thought it was a black lab
until I saw it under a street light. Dogs aren't that muscular. Bradford
is on the border of Allegheny National Forrest. They have more bears
than stray cats.

The old Pittsburgh weathermen would always give the Bradford temperatures.
I guess they forgot about it now. I remember when i stayed the night and it
was cold.

Times like this I envy you George...those kind of things make it all worth
while....
On the other hand, I get to go fishing when you have to work...
Not into ice fishing so staying home today. Colder than shit here.
30 miles from town, not much to do but fire up the satellite dish.
Hopefully a little warmer next week gonna crank up the heat in the woodshop
and try my hand at some furniture...

I mentioned that I saw a black bear in Bradford in May. I used to play
at a bar called Summit Manor in Ridgeway back in the early '80's. I went
out to my van, which was parked out back of the club. I heard some
rumbling leaves & turned on my headlights to see what it was. You
guessed it. I saw a black bear, not 20 feet away, climb into a dumpster,
throw out some garbage bags, crawl back out & rip the bags open to
feast. I always wondered what might have happened if I got too close to
the bear in the darkness. I was told that the bear was shot the next
hunting season; it was 400 lbs.
Sounds like you had a great time.
