I've used it for front baffles in small guitar amps... not sure I'd want to
build a complete sub out of it! It might be good for "veneering" a speaker box
for a smooth finish.
I tested the type I bought by putting a piece in a bucket of water, half in and
half out, for 2 months... no change. Try that with presswood and see the amazing
results! (I don't use presswood for anything.)

We've been here before several times.
It's pretty obvious that MDF is suitable for bottom feeder MI grade
stuff as long as it's not being knocked about. It's also suitable for
some install stuff (Cinema speakers comes to mind) and studio monitors.
Disadvantages are that it isn't structurally strong, not suitable for
mounting flying hardware unless reinforced with ply or metal, and it
doesn't care for getting damp unless specially treated. It`s also bloody
heavy compared with ply.
The only advantages are it's very low cost and ease of finishing
(possibly) There are/may be sonic advantages but in anything but static
applications these may be negated by the materials other weaknesses. It
is sometimes used for internal bracing in cabinets otherwise built from
ply(probably more to do with cost considerations than sonic qualities)
It's blindingly obvious that professional touring cabinets are made from
high quality birch ply or similar.

Now now, I didn't fall for anything, just giving my opinion on cabinet materials
I have used in the past... MDF has its place, along with plastic and wood and
metal... I prefer to use that multi-ply plywood, it has 11 layers in 5/8 inch,
not sure what its called. It's freakin' strong.

WOuld agree with all of those. GUess we'll have to add a

He's probably had to lie low for a while because he said he got busted for
benefit fraud. His constant posting on here about the work he does at the
dive he works in wouldn't look good if he was being investigated.
I reckon he just got drunk or coked up, his ego got out of control again and
