Yesterday I was driving in S. Fulton and

Douglas Counties in a downpour. You could hardly see

1/4 mile ahead, but half of the drivers did not

have their headlights on and it is the law.

Police need to start enforcing it for the

safety of everyone.

I suppose they will do that just about the time they start

On TV they showed GA State Police checking speeds
on I-85 near Gwinnett Mall and actually giving tickets to
some drivers who were doing up to 110 MPH.

They need to be out there every day doing that until the
prevailing speed is the speed limit. I am NOT against the
State of Georgia using speeding tickets as a source of
raising revenue. If drivers want to speed then they should
have to pay the price for engaging in illegal activities. I
bet if they set up radar at four different locations around
the perimeter every day and changed the location every day
that after a month or so we'd start seeing that people will
start driving at 55 and there will be far fewer accidents.

I fully agree. But, about every day I see a police car make a left turn or
change lanes or pull out into traffic without using their turn signals.
They need to be examples, and technically they must obey the rules of the
road unless they have their sirens on.

Personally, I think we should make the speed limits 75 mph in the metro
area and 110 mph after 20 miles outside 285. It would increase the
traffic-carrying capacity of the expressways by emptying them faster. Along
with that would have to come stricter enforcement of "slower traffic stays
in the right lanes." As on the German Autobahn, if you're not passing a car
on your right once every 10 (don't remember the exact number) seconds, you
need to be in the right lane. Turn signals on lane change would need to be
enforced.

After all, 110 mph is not that fast for today's cars. Unlike the Autobahn,
our roads are not designed for unlimited speed though so there would need
to be a set limit.

Of course, in Germany it costs a few $k to get your license. So maybe the
way we begin educating the public to drive more precisely here is to offer
a limited-class high speed driving license, which is given to people only
if they pass a strict class and pay a few $k for the fee. After a few years
of really bad accidents to eliminate the darwin factor, people would begin
to take the rules seriously.

I have recently taken to drivin around with my camcorder.....I take pics of
assholes and sometimes it scares the hell out of em .....I am fed up. I live
in rural area on a 20 ft road. In the last 2-3 yrs, we cannot get out of our
driveway without risk of being t-boned or death. They whiz by at 60-70 on a
45 mph rd. They have gone faster..........then they have nerve to honk at us
! but they whiz up the hill and we are on the top flat part of hill --they
cant see us pull out ----esp. when they are drivin at 50-60-70 + !!!!! We
have called Dekalb County numerous times...telling them they could make a
fortune on this road alone...not to mention SOMEONE will be killed unless
they get them to slow down. So far nothin from the county............what
the hell can we do ? Ever since they started puttin in all these
projects....we have thousands of vehicles where we use to cope with maybe
100....................Love to move but not doable now...........any
suggestions?

Take a backhoe and dig some holes halfway up the hill.

When the gov repairs them, go back and dig some more.

Eventually, they'll get tired of it and take action.

Yeah, I remember how everyone used to obey the speed limit on 85 and 285---
right up until Sonny and the boys took over;-)

Stahl's blaming the wrong party for problems related to _"anything goes"
politics_ in Dekalb County - there might be one Commissioner with an (R)
behind their name the rest have a (D).

Stahl's average for getting something right in a post still below 0.001%.

Great - another wacko who believes that his opinions are so
important that he must change his email address to override
my filters under the presumption that I should ever give a
shit about what goes on his his poor little deluded mind.

Brett - why are you being such a pitiful little baby about
this? What part of me knowing that you are a jerk don't you
understand? You are rude. You are childish. You have no
concern for anyone but yourself. You are in my filters for a
reason and I can't imagine any reason that I would want to
ever change that. You are no better then nada/melvin/whit.

Moron, the return address has been what it is currently for two or three
weeks. The fact that you can't write a filter is your problem.

Why change it at all? Effective filtering mechanisms exist if spam is
your issue. My ISP uses Postini, for example.

I bought a couple of new machines three or four weeks ago and I couldn't
remember what I was using as a newsgroup email return address on one of the
systems they replaced when I was setting them up.

I use na...@192.168.x.y and I don't expect to ever see any spam that might be
sent to them.

Try pouring a few quarts of heavy motor oil on the road half a click
down the road around midnight. No oil? then a small box of eight penny
nails will do just fine.
