The morons (including Romney) forget it started as Romneycare when he
was governor of Massachusetts.

And the hypocrite has said his first action as President would be to
repeal Obamacare.

That's what we're hiring him to do. If we wanted Obamacare we would
vote for Obama.

The Heritage Foundation forgot to mention that the worst things about the
plan are the compromises forced on it by Republicans. The foundation is
also oddly silent about the excellent health care provided by pretty much
all the developed countries of the world through state financed systems,
care that is much less expensive while simultaneously being far more

Is that why so many Canadians cross the border to have their surgery done here?Less expensive?A friend of mine lives in Finland, where they have national
health care. His tax rate is almost twice what mine is.

ROTFL. The President does not have the authority to make or repeal laws, dimwit.Only Congress can do that.See Articles I and II of the
US Constitution.

That's only one reason why I'm voting for Obama. The health care system
is badly broken, and needs fixing. True, Obamacare is a drop in the
bucket, but he's the first to actually get anything done.

Also, I'm voting against Romney and the GOP. I don't want to see the
already obscene wealth gap getting worse at an ever increasing rate.

Notice that the dishonest little shit's unmarked snip of the bit
pointing out that Obamacare started off as Romneycare in Massachusetts
when Romney was state governor there.

And that Romney was one of Obama's advisors when it was transformed
into Obamacare.

And that's what made him a hypocrite over this.

But then we've never seen any honesty from this one in her various
incarnations since she appeared as Teresita all those years ago.

It's quite simple:

1. The GOP doesn't want Obama to succeed. At anything.
2. Getting Obamacare into law was a MAJOR success for Obama.
3. The GOP can't have that.
4. Obamacare must go.
5. Romney is the GOP candidate for President. [He turned out to be the
least nutty of the original starters: Ron Paul, Fred Karger, Newt
Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Jon Huntsman (ironically, not nutty
enough to appeal to the GOP!), Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, and the
uber-kook, Michele Bachmann.]
6. As the GOP Presidential nominee, Romney must be opposed to Obamacare.
7. Obamacare is modeled after Romneycare, which works pretty well in
Massachusetts.
8. It doesn't matter if it works, or if Romney was the original architect:
Obamacare still must go!
9. Reality? Sanity? What's good for America? Are these things the GOP
should care about?
10. If you ever find yourself wondering WTF the GOP is thinking, review
item #9.

Get what done?Screw up the system so that certain people who are critically ill are refused treatment because it's too expensive?

Know where Obama got much of his funding for his plan?He stole it from
the Medicare fund. You want yourself covered as long as senior citizens
with heart disease and cancer pay the tab, eh?

So you advocate the redistribution of wealth?

Any money a man earns is HIS, not YOURS.He earned it with hard work,
imagination and taking risks with his money. If you want money, get off your ass and go earn it yourself. That's better than picking the pockets
of people who have made their own.Pickpockets are thieves.

Personally, I don't want a health care "system".
When you start talking about a "system", you bring in nonessential
personell, bureaucrats who soak up our tax dollars and don't provide
health care to anybody.

All I need is a good physician who I can go to with my medical problems. He can refer me to specialists for any care he does not
provide himself.

I need medical insurance that covers my doctor bills and prescriptions.

I don't need Wacky Baracky, the Kenyan Coyote, telling me how to preserve my health.

No, more *health care* is the solution.

Indeed. A shitload of people like my brother, who had preexisting

will now be able to acquire it.

I'm voting for Obama and Biden because of Obamacare, the wealth gap,
and the fact that I don't want Rmoney and Ryan ANYWHERE NEAR women's
reproductive rights.

Huntsman was the only one of the GOP presidential hopefuls that didn't
scare the living shit out of me. He actually believes in evolution
and climate change. In other words, he's sane. Which is why the GOP
rejected him, of course.

I'm with you all the way. I won't vote for ANY GOP politician, even ones
in local races whom I know and like. I wouldn't want my vote to be
interpreted as an endorsement of the national GOP's platform.

True that. His campaign was dead in the water. I wonder if he'd consider

He is able to earn HIS because he lives in a country where the GOVERNMENT
provides things like law and order, roads, bridges, education, breathable
air and water, safe food, safe housing, building codes, a reasonably
educated and healthy workforce, interstate and international commerce,
etc, etc, etc, etc.

All those services have a COST to implement and maintain. Since every
business is profiting from those services, they are obliged to help pay
for them.

As the righttard GOPpers like to quote, "He didn't build that." Except
that they are so stupid, they think they are being sarcastic.

Governments do not provide things. Further, should you believe
they really do, then so does the mafia. Would you like to live under
mafia control? No? Then you're a hypocrite, for government and mafia
are pretty much the same.

How does the government provide interstate and international commerce??????
Does it facilitate these by taxing the shit out of them?

They are smart enough to obtain wealth and persuade the voters to give them control of the House of Representatives.

They gave the GOP that control
midway through Obama's term in office. They knew the GOP reps would not give
Obama any money.Do you see a message there?

If that were true you would have paid your income taxes rather than
cheat the government out of them.

Go in debt to the mafia, then get back to us about how they are the

And the medical care in Finland, as well as the rest of Scandinavia, is much
less expensive for the society as a whole than in the US. That, in my
opinion, is a wonderful side benefit, the main benefit being that everyone
has access to the medical care that they need. Things have to be paid for
no matter what the system, and we do indeed pay higher taxes; but we do not
have to worry about being able to afford private health insurance or having
that insurance cancelled because we had to make use of it.

For one thing, they set standard weights and measures. That's why a
bushel of corn in Iowa is the same volume as a bushel of corn in
Illinois. That facilitates interstate and international commerce.

Or, I daresay, of having your life's savings completely wiped out by
some kind of major medical crisis.

I watched my father work himself to death just *trying*
(unsuccessfully) to keep up with my mother's medical bills. He was a
carpenter, and didn't get any job-related health insurance. In my
family, unless you were bleeding out of several bodily orifices, you
didn't go to the doctor.

Until Decemeber, when Fox News will start their
annual tirade about "The Liberals War On Christmas",
complete with preachers whining about how their
"right" to erect manger scenes in every public park

December?
They're late!
Christmas started three weeks ago over here, when the first
Xmas-themed cards, giftwrap, food and perfume commercials wwere
launched on the buying public.

On that note, one reader of the Telegraph newspaper wrote in
today telling us how he received a letter from British Gas on the
19th wishing him a "lovely Easter".

Really?Well, when I interviewed for a job, I always asked about the medical
coverage the employer provided. If it did not satisfy me, I did one of 2 things:

1.Refused the job offer or

2. Took it and kept looking for a job that provided better health insurance.
>
>
Nobody in this world is gonna drop what they are doing to take care of
you. You gotta take care of yourself.I joined the Navy and served 6 years.
One of the reasons I did that?I knew that, if I didn't stay in, I'd get
VA medical coverage when I got out. Now, I have VA medical for the rest of
my life and I pay no premiums, just a small copay.Surprisingly, I find that
VA care is better than any I got from Kaiser or Healthnet.

The US military takes care of it's own and I'm proud to call myself one of them. It was the most fun job I ever had and I don't regret a minute of it.

That's exactly what the invention of HMOs accomplished: a new layer of
bureaucracy, CEOs making multi-million dollar salaries, very little
improvement in terms of cost containment, and more aggravation for doctors
and patients.

Having private, for profit medical insurance companies surely represents
a conflict of interests. Most every other civilized country in the world
has already adopted a single payer system, with vastly improved
cost/benefit ratios. Our current model is *great* for those who can
afford it, but costs too much, delivers too little, and is inaccessible
for far too many.

PSST.Obamacare does not take effect until 2014.You don't know what it's
going to be like.Wait till you do your tax return for 2014 and see how
much your taxes have gone up to pay for Obummer's plan.

Then, you might sing a different tune.

Oh, the GOP are the absolute masters of marketing. The Dems could learn
a LOT from them in that regard. And, remember the words of H.L.Mencken:
"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American
public."

They also gave the GOP the boot at the end of GW's reign of idiocy. Yes,
I see a message here. I'm not sure the GOPpers can crow about fiscal
responsibility, when GW increased government spending more than any
President in history.

Let's cut the crap and get down to the nitty-gritty, eh?
You want me to be concerned about the health care of people I never met?

Tell me this:What have they ever done to demonstrate concern for my welfare?
Would they spend a single penny or lift a finger to help me if I were in trouble? It;s a rhetorical question, yes, because the answer is obvious.

Not to mention the interstate highways for interstate commerce, law
enforcement to keep the trucks from being hijacked, and a fucking NAVY to
protect international shipping. And yes, those services have a cost
associated with them, which is covered by taxation. Is atandy788 really
this stupid, or is he just emulating his GOPper pals?

Hi, Don! You're right, there is absolutely no difference between a
government of elected officials, and a cut-throat band of criminals. Bye!

On the plus side, you don't have to worry about examining a candidate's
stand on any issues. A vote for any Republican candidate would be an
endorsement of their national platform. No, thanks. Get back to me when
the GOP is no longer being run by insane fucktards.

You are a devious little bastard, aren't you?I never denied the need for
the Navy or any of our armed forces.I served 6 years in the US Navy myself.
The issue was promoting commerce. The only threat to commerce at sea are
pirates like Blackbeard, and he died in the the 18th century.

Maybe you have seen him or Captain Blood in your dreams/delusions, you slimy little motherfucker?Long John Silver was a fictional creation of Robert Louis Stevenson, but you probably think he's out there on the high seas attacking
merchant ships.

Hijacking is a problem for law enforcement and I fully support that.
I even considered joining the FBI years ago.
In case you think I am anti-tax,you ought to know that I applied for jobs
with the IRS and the California Sales tax authority some years back.

I spent 14 years as an auditor for San Diego County, too.

Well, I'm a member of the GOP National Committee. I hear from them regularly.
When I vote, I consider the actual things they do in Congress, as well as the party platform.

The things they say make alot more sense than the childish babble we get from you.You fuckers are all hot for Obamacare. ROTFL. It doesn't take effect until
2014, so you have no idea what it's really going to do at all.The original
law has been rewritten by Congress 3 times already to reduce it's benefits
because they needed money for other things. They are still short of funds because of the recession and they may rewrite it again.

So, what you're endorsing and defending is something you know nothing about and you won't know for more than a year.

I call that STUPID.

You need to work on your reading skills, Joe. The issue was "providing
for" commerce, not "promoting" commerce, though they are not too far
apart.

YOU are the one who claimed that "Any money a man earns is HIS, not
YOURS." Can your shriveled brain remember back that far? I pointed out,
just as Obama did, that any business thrives because the government
provides an environment for it to do so. I listed about a dozen services
and resources that the government provides, ONE of which was "interstate
and international commerce". You, apparently posting as atandy788, asked
for clarification of how the government provides interstate and
international commerce, then asked if "taxing the shit out of them"
facilitates this. That's when I pointed out the need for a navy to
protect international shipping.

If you don't think that the Navy helps business, like perhaps oil
companies, move their product around the world safely, I'd like to hear
your attempt to rationalize your position. I'm sure it will be amusing.

If you think that piracy died in the 18th century, you need to check the
news more often. You may want to look up the name, Maersk Alabama, for
one.

BTW, thank you for your service to our country. We have all benefited
from the Navy's protection of shipping and US servicemen. Even if you
don't believe it is necessary.

Yes. It's called "living in society".

> Tell me this:What have they ever done to demonstrate concern for my welfare?

Paid their taxes. Taxes that helped pay for YOUR street you live on. Helped
pay for police to ensure YOU are safe. Helped pay for fire departments that
keep YOUR house from becoming a smoking pile of ash. Help pay to educate
either YOUR kids, or the kids of someone in your family. Helped pay for water
quality testing that makes sure YOUR drinking water isn't full of E. Coli.
Helped pay for YOUR public sewer system so you're not literally living in a
cesspool. Helped pay for medical reasearch at universities that contributed
towards YOUR health and welfare. Etc. I could go on, but you get the idea.

> Would they spend a single penny or lift a finger to help me if I were in trouble?

Absolutely. Unlike you, they're civilized human beings who actually have some
empathy for their fellow creatures. You sit there crowing about the excellent
VA medical care you get that's funded AT TAXPAYERS FUCKING EXPENSE, and then
drone on about how no one would help you? Are you fucking *stupid*? Who,
*exactly* do you think's paying for that VA care? OTHER FUCKING PEOPLE. And
they probably, like me, pay their taxes happily, knowing all the frigging
benefits they get from living in a civilized society where people can get a
hand up if they need it.

Grow the fuck up.

So, you never do anything you've never done before? Is that why you think
like a 2-year old?

I agree that there's a lot we don't know about how Obamacare is going to
pan out, but we DO know that the current system is going from bad to
worse, and *something* needs to be done.

There's a saying used by surgeons: It's better to be wrong than undecided.
That's not always true, but it applies here.

Did you read the Supreme Court's ruling on Obamacare?
Did they say that states or individuals can still opt out of it and refuse
to participate?29 states had already done that before it went to the SC.

29 states, neighbor, out of 50.That's almost 60 per cent.Obummer has sparked

Indeed, the measurements were *developed* in England. However, they
are *set* as the official standards by the government to facilitate
interstate and international commerce.

Looking at what I wrote, I never claimed our government invented the
measurements, only that they *set* them as the standard. Seems you're
so ready to argue that you failed to read for comprehension.

Oh, dear. You never did hear of the Maersk Alabama and her
redoubtable Captain Richard Phillips, who was held hostage by Somali
pirates, did you?

Time to get your head out of your ass and catch up on current events,
Joe/Art. You're making yourself look like real dufus again.

Oh, *sure* they can. I saw Indiana governor Mitch Daniels on the
Colbert Report tonight, the guy who had run the Office of Management
and Budget during Dubya's depredations*cough*administration. When
Colbert tried to get him to answer as to what happened to the surplus
Dubya inherited from Clinton, Daniels tried to shuck-and-jive about
how the "dot com bubble burst," and it would have meant trouble for
*any* administration. No mention of starting two land wars in Asia
while simultaneously butchering the tax rates and engineering a giant
give-away to Big Pharma with Medicare Part D (unfunded). Oh, no.
Aaaaaallllllllllll that surplus went away because the dot-com bubble
burst. Um-hm.

Well, I voted for the man who brought in Obamacare, which, while not
perfect, may well one day save your ass when you discover you have a
major medical problem and Obamacare keeps your insurers from cutting
you off just when you need care the most.

> Would they spend a single penny or lift a finger to help me if I were in trouble? It;s a rhetorical question, yes, because the answer is obvious.

Well, shit yes, I would; so would most people. I've lived overseas,
Joe/Art, and let me tell you something about Americans: no one tops
us when it comes to generosity and the impulse to help strangers in
trouble. I'm really proud to be an American because of that.

The funny thing is, that giving compassion to others tends to earn it
for yourself.

Not to mention the Straits of Malacca.

There are far more pirates today than there ever were in the "Golden
Age" of piracy.

And rescued after SEAL snipers killed 3 pirates in the covered lifeboat,
in the first mission signed off on by Obama in his 1st ballsy move.

It's really sad how often he shoots himself in the foot.

It won't do that, despite what you've been brainwashed to
believe.

Here's something to remember: just as the christians have no
right to force their aesthetics upon us, you have no right to force
others to pay for your healthcare. Should you believe
otherwise--you're no different from the christians who think that they
can impose their hate upon us all via law.

If public health care is so wrong why did your
heroes Ayn Rand and Sarah Palin take advantage of it?

Ooooooh! Nice. Forgot about that one. Joe has too, apparently.

As I've pointed out, you also contribute to a tax structure that pays for his
excellent healthcare he gets due to the VA.

What, Joe can't get "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"?
Qu'elle surprise. You ever notice how people tend to project themselves onto
others? Joe, being a selfish asshole, tends to assume everyone else is, too.
I mean, HE wouldn't lift one finger to help someone else, so why would anyone
do that for him? That he's spouted off like this doesn't tell us much about
other people, but it does tell us alot about him.

Oh? Constitution says otherwise:

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1:

The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and
Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general
Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be
uniform throughout the United States.

Obamacare was, as you're aware, ruled a tax.

Sorry, Don. Keep payin' your taxes.
