Bopped onto this lively and lovely discourse on a coffee break,
have to offer a couple observations:
1. I have found it impossible to convince a 5-yr-old that Santa
doesn't exist; attempting such is cruel.
2. Reading the discourse of any two Bible freaks is amazingly
like listening to two 5-yr-olds debate the Mickey Mouse family
tree.
3. (Humm, a baker's couple...) The biggest difference between
science and religion is that science unites (chemistry is merging
with physics for example) while religion divides into more and more sects.
Around the time of the Civil War, America debated a Constitu-
tional amendment to declare the US a Christian country. It was
defeated (polititians had balls back then!) narrowly. Lucky. If
a majority of Christians could claim the country theirs, then a
majority of whites would demand their due, and we would all
want to apply for refugee status in Ireland!

you will find that many adults are much the same. once they really
*want* to believe something, they will, no matter what you tell them;
and attempting to convince them they're wrong will be very much like
wrestling a pig, except they won't like it either.

a fantasy is a fantasy.
