It would not be the same amount in every area. The end goal would be the
areas that were flooded during the last several floods. Those are the
areas that should be purchased by the federal gov't and made into wet
lands.

"spirit body"?

Funny your Bible doesn't mention that.

Perhaps it doesn't exist?

What more do you want him to do?

It would be good investment in the long run. For example, houses located
next to the Mississippi River have been replaced dozens of times. If that
land was purchased and made into wet lands--the houses would never again
have to be replaced everytime the Mississippii River flooded.

So what?

It's HIS responsibility to provide resources to governors and mayors. He
has no responsibility for direct action.

I lived briefly in San Diego a number of years ago. Parts of it are
built on thick layers of sand. Every so often, houses picturesquely
perched on the edge of a mesa will just as picturesquely tumble into a
ravine. Or, if fate has it's way, they'll tumble into a new sink hole.
Living on a cliff by the sea isn't a good strategy either.

Romans 10:9--do you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the
dead? It's a requirement to believe that in order to be saved.

Is your answer yes or no?

I will supply the correct answer. The spirit is breath. The same root
word is found in respiration. Long ago it was noted that people who are
alive breathe, and people who died exhaled one final time and no longer
breathed. Now we know that the brain stem, when it is alive, sends
signals to the diaphragm to contract and relax, thus filling and
emptying the lungs. When the brain dies, this process no longer occurs.
Personal identity is a phenomenon arising from memories stored in the
brain. When the brain dies, this identity quickly fades. The personal
identity is not carried out of the body in the form of carbon dioxide.

Jason apparently is unable to distinguish any difference between the
verbs 'to know' and 'to believe'. Much is thereby explained.

I knew that I was only telling the professor the answers that he wanted to
read on my tests and exams. I was only trying to get a A grade in that
class and I got an A grade in that class. Lots of Christians have to do
that do pass their Biology 101 classes and history classes.

If you end up spending your eternity in hell, it will be your own fault
since you have now been warned about the dangers of hell fire.

A better option would be to do what it says to do in John 3: 15-16 and
Romans 10: 9. That means you could spend your eternity in heaven instead
of in hell.

So all you did was parrot the answers you knew were needed.

Parroting doesn't require you to believe what you are saying or
writing.

So why do you say you had to believe?

You know in science when a hypothesis or theory is shown to be in
error it is either modified or discarded. There are a number of
hypotheses as to where life originated and scientists are working on
them to see which is most likely to fit the available evidence. The
concept you were taught wasn't a theory but a hypothesis, and one that
was discarded some time ago.

But on the other had religious faith requires no evidence, no testing
to confirm its truth, people will argue over how a particular verse or
chapter should be interpreted, this is what leads to the numerous
schisms and conflicts in a religion. Look at the thousands of
denominations within Christianity, all of them born out of
disagreements over interpretation.

It wasn't a theory, it was a hypothesis. There's a significant
difference between the two concepts.

Even if he was that would have no bearing on what he taught you.

He was teaching what was required to be taught.

So what? You watch a tv channel that will show something that makes the
President look good and anything that will make him look bad.

So, I repeat, why are you making accusations when you have no idea what
the facts are?

When have I EVER called Obama my hero?

make 2010 look like a picnic.

So you don't draw any strength from your faith?

Yet here I am, a pragmatic agnostic.

With no religious faith to draw strength from.

And I'm coping very well.

Why is that Jason?

And there's Jason spouting heresy again.

Why do you think your god wouldn't know the difference between real
worship and fake worship for the purposes of avoiding punishment?

You've been asked this before and never answered. I think it's time you
finally explain yourself.

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is
not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we
have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."

"He who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the
condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved
darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone
practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his
deeds should be exposed."

If you do something wrong.

Then you should apologise to the person you did it to.

If they accept your apology that's fine.

If they don't, you need to find some way to earn their acceptance.

No need for gods of any kind to be involved.

You mean, if I had any beliefs about abiogenesis, right?

Perhaps your simplistic understanding of the situation is wrong (OK,
Jason's simplistic understanding is, as always, wrong). Perhaps the
president can't just make a phone call and have gas magically appear.
Perhaps it actually takes time to restore power to the afflicted areas.

But, no, Jason doesn't believe that. If he did, he couldn't continue to
blame President (2nd term now) Obama, even though all but the most
benighted conservatives admit Obama has done a fine job.

Vodka, whisky, gin, cognac, armagnac, calvados, arrak, poteen,
schnaps, akvavit, raki, shochu, grappa, marc, Trester, rum ... to
name but a few.

These have the inestimable advantage of having a provable
existence.

There is not, nor was there ever any hypothesis that life evolved from
pond scum. Especially since what you call pond scum is alive.
Apparently, your bad memory has struck yet again.

Not ideal, but not necessarily stupid. Many places around the
world are built at or below sea level, or on floodplains
(including my own London -- England, not Ontario). The vital
trick is to remember this at all times and to keep flood
protections such as dams and locks in good working order. In the
Netherlands, the chap in charge of their flood protection is
deemed so important that he has a cabinet post, and in times of
emergency he is the single most powerful person in the country.

This very basic lesson is one that was lost in New Orleans. They
forgot to protect themselves, plain and simple.

That does not mean you have to believe in the hypothesis that was
taught. It just means you have to understand it. There is a *BIG*
difference between the two.

So Republicans will block everything Obama

Poor Jason, still pretending he went to college. All of his classes seem to
have been 101 freshman level. Why is that Jason?

For your information, Jason, the 101 level classes are designed to transition
high school students, and cull out the people who can't hack "higher
education".

It would not cover origin of life theories in any great detail.

Anyone who has actually attended college can see right through your pathetic
attempt at deception.

Why do you persist?

As I remember it being explained, back in the post-Katrina days,
Nawlins wasn't originally below sea level.

The delta that the French built on received regular additions of
silt from the Mississipi -- at least, it did before we built a
city there, then put dikes and such around it to keep the city
from getting regularly flooded. A couple hundred years of
no-more-silt and Nawlins sank below sea level. It's hard to
say who, if anyone's, fault that is.

As for the idiocy of rebuilding it, yeah, maybe, but
it's the residents' home. It's an entirely human thing to
refuse to get pushed out of one's home.

I think an argument could be made that this entirely human thing
is the reason that there are several billion humans on this planet,
not just a few scattered hunting groups on the plains of Africa.

So, if it is sheer idiocy, at least it has been very successful
idiocy (for some value of "successful"). Or so it seems to me.

It seems that Jason not only wants President Obama to rebuild every house by
hand and pump gas into every person's car, he now wants the President to be
the zoning board for every city and town in the country.

Plus he is insisting that Obama use "socialistic" means to do that.

Tell me Jason, just how would you REALLY respond if Obama personally allocated
"government money" to buy private property and prevent free enterprise
capitalism from operating at their own chances of risk and reward?

You're not a hypocrite are you?

Nope, wrong again. Bush went days without doing anything about Katrina.
Obama started working on it on the night of the storm.

Bah.
You may drink more beer than we do (78 versus 74 litres per
capita annually) but our beer is WAY, WAY, WAHAY batter than
yours. Want proof? OK, one word: Budweiser. Not enough? One
more word: Schlitz. Two more words: Michelob Ultra. Three more
words: Pabst Blue Ribbon. It is scientifically impossible to
chemically formulate let alone drink worse beer than these.
Generously speaking, it is probably a superior taste experience

Hey, I'm not arguing about the quality of British vs mass market
American beer. The latter is horrible. However, the US does have quite a
number of microbreweries that make some very presentable beers.

IIRC, Britain had the same problem a number of years ago. In fact, I was
living there during the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) days.

GOP Opposes Their Own Ideas — If Obama Backs Them
Tue, 26 Jun 2012

One idea Republicans had been pushing was a proposal
for a bipartisan commission to recommend tough deficit-
reduction measures. But then the Obama administration
decided to embrace the idea.

And, lo and behold, as Mike Allen reported in Politico,
the Republicans promptly turned on their heels and
repudiated it. Six of the bill's Republican co-sponsors
voted against it.

Obama:

"This law failed by seven votes when seven Republicans
who had co-sponsored the bill — had co-sponsored the
idea — suddenly walked away from their own proposal after
I endorsed it"

Then what Obama should do is use moles to infiltrate the Republicans
to get them to put out policies which Obama then can roundly
criticise, that will encourage the Republicans to push those policies
through, all the while those policies will be the ones Obama would
have implemented in the first place. And Democrat voting against those
policies will be a token resistance to make the Republicans think the
Democrats are genuinely opposing those policies.

I couldn't believe that the Senate made no effort to sanction Mitch McConnell
when he openly stated that the safety, welfare, and security of the United
States took a distant second place to his political objectives:

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to
be a one-term president."

And to use the buzzword of this election cycle, he "doubled down" by promising
to be obstructionist:

"We worked very hard to keep our fingerprints off of these proposals...Because
we thought -- correctly, I think -- that the only way the American people
would know that a great debate was going on was if the measures were not
bipartisan. When you hang the 'bipartisan' tag on something, the perception
is that differences have been worked out, and there’s a broad agreement that
that’s the way forward."

I would like Harry Reid to read this into the National Archives at the start
of each and every Senate session for the next four years.

It's more like that he could have some staff members go to those areas and
arrange for gas and generators to be delivered to those closed down gas
stations.

When I first got out of college, I took a job as the manager of a fast
food restaurant. I was the newest manager. If we had a major problem at
one of our fast food restaurants, my supervisor would visit the restaurant
and find out what the problem was. He would take what every actions he
needed to solve that problem. In one case, he ordered my assistant manager
to take my place as manager and sent me to North Carolina to take over for
a manager that was stealing money from the restaurant. My supervisor fired
that manager. I did not want to do it but I fully understood why my
supervisor made that decision.

What is my point? Obama could sent his trusted staff members to those
cities and order them to do whatever they needed to do to get gas and
generators to those closed down gas stations.

Yes.

I don't believe it is possible for living cells to evolve from non-living
matter.

I believe that God created life on this earth.

If living cells could evolve from non-living matter--it should be easy for
scientists to make it happen in lab experiments.

How oddly similar to the example I posted.

Except that ISN'T your point. You want President Obama to do all those jobs.
Himself.

Why?

Good point. I did fully understand the primordial pond theory. You are
correct--I did not believe it.

Which is just more evidence you never went to college, and certainly never got
a Masters Degree.

Why are all your classes freshman 101 level? Who even remembers those
courses? Nothing interesting happens in college classes until Junior year.

What benefit do you get by embarrassing yourself with this transparent lie?

I meant that Obama could send staff members to do those jobs.
