Do you not understand, dirtbag, that she was NOT brain-dead. She, a woman who
lived without life support except for tube feeding, was alive.

See, you mistake your ass for your brain as usual. She was NOT on life support

death.

Duke, do you believe that people with painful, terminal
conditions should be allowed to end their own lives?

Man, if I end up brain-dead, I sure as heck hope the cleaners accidently pull
out the plug while vacuuming a lot sooner than what happened with Terri.

We've got these billboards put up by fundies around where I live. Not many,
but one or two. Something to the effect of "Choose life: from birth to natural
death" or the like. Funny how they don't want to follow the second part;
heroic measures were undertaken to keep poor Terri alive. When it became clear
that there wasn't much functioning brain tissue left to save, they should have
just let her go.

Because "Terri" was already gone.

I find it hilarious that, in my experience, the more religious someone is, the
more heroic the medical proceedures they'll undertake to keep themselves alive.
While, the atheists I've known who've passed away, when it became clear that
the time was nigh, did so with a quiet dignity and grace, and refused any
medical intervention other than painkillers.

You'd think it would be the other way around.

Such a shame she got turned into a political football.

Do you not understand, fuck mouthed liar, that she WAS in fact brain
dead, and that the autopsy confirmed it? Now, crawl back into that
dark, wet hole you call the Catholic Church and dream up some new
disinformation, propaganda and lies.
For now, you stand as living proof that there is no "God". If there was
a "God" this would happen to your family and you would be forced to
watch as your sick, degenerate religious Doctrine and Dogma crushed your
family, and all that you ever worked or lived for, into the dirt!

She was brain dead, pure and simple. It was proven several times over

disinformation.

It's not a matter of "allowing them" to do it. You can't stop them.

At the same time, suicide should never be rewarded by paid medical bills,
insurance payouts, etc, ie, if you take your own life, death benefits are no
longer required.

Do you know the difference between the brain _stem_ and the brain
itself? She was brain dead! Nothing even remotely capable of thought
was left. There was nothing left that could ever recover. Neither you
nor the Pope are Doctors! She wasn't "paralyzed", or asleep, she was
simply dead! She could never, ever again think, speak, sleep, dream,
_nothing_ was left but an absolute vegetable.

Yes, she was, "duke", you stupid, little CatholiKKK liar! The autopsy

It was time to let the rest of her remains follow her brain death. Is
this what you want to do to hundreds of Americans every year? Drain
them of every last cent, then drain the public of money needed for
people that can be helped? Is your degenerate "church" going to pay the
bill. I can see it now, row after row of brain dead people being kept
alive at public expense and the insistence of the sick Catholic Church
while thousands suffer for lack of health care.

You filthy little Catholic Sadist! You enjoy the suffering you cause,
don't you! Don't deny what we both know. Brain death is death. And
you don't care one bit. You just want to impose your ugly, filthy Dogma
on innocent bystanders, don't you! Take your pro-liar ass, your
Sadistic Church and stick them back in the shit hole you got them out
of!!!! You're a monster, "duke", pure and simple, a sadistic, Catholic
monster.

P.S. Please keep harping on this, "duke". I want as many people as
possible (as few people as there are on the Usenet these days) to see
what you stand for. I want people to realize what the "Church" would do
to them if it had its way, the kind of suffering it would impose on
everyone. Please keep explaining exactly, in no uncertain terms, you
full well knew there was no recovery, nothing left except the stem of
the brain, that you know she was gone. I want everyone to picture
themselves if something like this ever happened in their family, and
"duke" and his "Church" stuck their noses in at the worst moment of
their lives.
P.P.S. Oh, and keep explaining why you and your "Church" oppose stem
cell research, the one thing that might lead to healing nerve tissue
damage. The Usenet public needs to be reminded of that too.

Sure she was; there was no higher brain function. The only thing keeping her
alive was our evolutionary "reptile brain" which handles things like breathing
and heartbeat. But "Terri", all her memories, personality, feelings, wants,
hopes, fears, dreams, passions, all that stuff that sits in the higher brain,
all that was gone. Atrophied and replaced with water.

She couldn't eat on her own. Couldn't chew or swallow; those are natural
functions. If we hadn't had tube feeding, she wouldn't have been alive for as
long as she was. That's "natural death", right? She was unnaturally being
kept alive.

Many people in intensive care units are kept on artificial feeding for short
periods of time. Death is not imminent.

No, she wasn't. Artificial support by way of a feeding tube was
removed. The brain was already liquefied. The remainder of the body
followed. The heart and lungs are not the brain! Brain gone, life
gone!
"duke", with a straight face, please tell everyone that you want any
person with fluid for a brain to be kept on support, and/or a feeding
tube until they die of old age. Do you understand how long that is for
a 20 year old? Do you know how much it costs from one day to the next?
Do you know what those funds could do for prenatal care alone? Your
thinking is stuck in the Dark Ages, "duke", when the heart beat was the
symbol of life, and humans knew little or nothing about the brain. I
thought we left that sort of ignorance behind.

What I seem to be understanding is that you don't like to answer a
direct question in an extremely un-Christian manner.

This amounts to a sin by omission.

You may now ask for forgiveness.

If you are truly contrite (And do the penance I assign), your
sins will be washed away in the blood of Christ.

PS- In a sense, Christ committed suicide by overturning the
money changer's tables at the temple. Ruminate on that a while.

Yes, "duke", she was dead, gone. There was nothing of the part of her
that forms any sort of thoughts or has any sort of memory left, no
sight, no hearing. She was quite dead.

No, she was completely gone. Not "almost" gone, completely gone. Only
the brain stem and bodily remains were left. It was long past time to
let them go.

Good point. They couldn't do that during the Dark Ages. So the
definition of death was no heart beat.

And their brains are still intact, not turned to liquid. Stop grasping

Ladies and gentlemen of the Usenet, take a long, careful look at what
"duke" is doing. He's advocating that the sick, degenerate Dogma of the
Catholic Church be imposed on every one of you, like it or not, rather
than allow Doctors and Scientists to do what we select and hire them
for. "duke" wants the Catholic Church to over No one elected the
Catholic Church, or gave it power over our lives. Yet, the Catholic
Church demands power, and has acted in the case of Terri to impose
itself on each of us. The Church has no qualms about the methods it
uses to gain power over our lives. Even today, the Catholic Church
demands absolute power over our reproductive lives, as it once had.
Again, it has no qualms about methods, including lies and
disinformation, pressuring Catholic legislators, terrorizing women.
What are you going to do about it?

No, it doesn't. How can any one person admit that they are in **favor** of

I don't see how any person could conceive of one being "in favor" of suffering.

The brain was liquid, not capable of feeling any sort of pain, or
anything else, or forming a thought, ever, or of ever waking up. She
was brain dead, which means she was dead.

Ladies and gentlemen, are you getting the point? "duke" and his "Pope"
demand that you suffer as much as possible, as often as possible, and
that your family suffer, that medical science be ignored. Do you have
any understanding now of the sickness and degeneracy of the Catholic
Church? If not, stay tuned as "duke" continues to demand as much
suffering from you as possible, even if you're not Catholic! Isn't
"duke" special?

I don't presume to substitute the sick, degenerate Dogma and Doctrine of
my sick, degenerate "Church" for sound medical science, just for the
sake of causing people and their families to suffer.

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to the "duke" show. Here, he
entertains us with Catholic logic that has nothing to do with medical
facts. Do you want the Pope telling your Doctor what to do? Isn't it
great?

Anyone who opposes birth control, particularly in poor third world
countries, is definitely in favor of suffering, of both the women who
have to bear child after child and their children who are too often born
into a short and painful lives.

That's because the majority of muslums are backward, ignorant,
superstitious, and cut off from major forms of free communication
by their theocratic governments....The style of government that
you favor, btw.

We make the mistake of confusing them with normal, western style people.

The Pope should be made to take care of all those unwanted or

Duke, you and I *BOTH* know Terri wasn't on a tube for "a short period of
time".

C'mon duke; I'm an atheist; when they unplug me, I'm just gone, and *I* wouldn't
want to live like that. Can you honestly look at Terri and say she wanted to
keep on in that "not quite alive, not quite dead" state? Would you?

One way or the other, we all gotta go. It'd be nice to shuffle off with as
much dignity as you can. I don't think anyone can look at what was happening
to Terri and call that "dignity".

The sad fact that some children come into the world unloved is not
a sign to terminate their invaluable lives, but to create a new heart
in us that is capable of loving them and taking care of their needs.

It's not just the Pope's job or nuns or missionaries, but the true vocation
of everyone. Whoever does not accept his vocation deludes himself as to
what his true purpose for living is. You and that unwanted child, you know,
have the same end.

According to the myth, his father made him die
against his will. That's murder. Of course, he
wasn't supposed to stay dead, but return to Daddy's
side in Boring Land. So, the whole thing was totally
meaningless. He didn't really die - just his shell.
But the Church can't say that JC's shell died for
all good Catholics' sins, could they?

Pure, lying bull shit!!! Yes, it is a sign to take the unwanted fetus
filth, rip it apart, and flush it down the toilet. Abortion is a great,
beautiful act of love and devotion!!!
> but to create a new heart
> in us that is capable of loving them and taking care of their needs.
It's so much more wonderful to simply get rid of the little bastards.
We should love our own lives so much more that the existence of fetus
filth. Abortion is so beautiful! Crush out fetus filth!!!

Horse shit! The Pope never lifted a finger to help a single unwanted
child, nor has any other Catholic. To the Catholic Church, life
actually does end at birth!

Yes, but if we croak the fetus filth early we'll have a much better
life. I'm more important than any fetus filth. Let the fetus filth rot
while I enjoy my life and pleasures!!!

They kill each other over a pair of Nike shoes or a MJordan t-shirt. And
unfortunately, it's going to remain that way. The 90% are waiting of
reparations. And our current Kenyan is trying to hand it to them and I am
disgusted.

You must really live in a pampered environment.

And........don't misunderstand me. I know many highly respected and really nice
black people, and black Catholics are clearly a step above. So don't think
racism, think truth.

Actually, as a Roman Catholic, I'm elated that the RCC is the most active group
in helping the needy worldwide.

Pure, lying bull shit. But, by all means, keep reminding people what
you have in mind for them and their families at the worst time of their
lives.

They are also the group that CREATES most of these needy people.

LOL! They create their own market, then collect money to feed
all these people. (Skimming off their cut first, of course)

I don't know any boys that need to be diddled by a priest.

Liar, the UN does far more than Catholics do. Also they do not lie to
people.

The last group in the world to help the needy is the RCC.

One key idea in all this is that Lucifer/Satan is still quite deeply
involved in our mortal lives and God has allowed Lucifer/Satan to run
his agenda, as is allegorically shown in Job 1 & 2. God asks us to
bear the load imposed upon us and do the best we can.

Without this kind of exposure to the effects of sin and rebellion,
none of us would be reliable for promotion into immortality and
absolute sovereignty. We would likely gravitate into the same state
that lured Lucifer away from God. Our curiosity regarding the option
of "going our own way, apart from God's will" would overwhelm us and
we would fall just as Lucifer/Satan fell.

But, with adequate hands-on learning, during this mortal phase of our
existence, we are expected to gain enough insight into the effects of
ALL forms of sin and rebellion, to become fully reliable as immortal,
absolutely sovereign beings. Anything short of this would be the
equivalent of God's having pre-programmed us as puppets, or
intimidated us into compliance. This isn't what God wants of us. He
wants us to mature into fully reliable, fully sovereign, immortal
beings who can interact with Him at His own level.

UN: A place where dictators opposed to free speech (Castro, Putin,
Ahmedinejad, Mugabe, Obama, Chavez, Kim Jong Un) demand to be heard.
