-- The tenor of the debate among elite Republicans
on immigration reform goes something like this. They try
to pretend it isn't political and they debate the merits of
creating a whole bunch of new Latino citizens. Then they talk
about how they need to be more welcoming to Latinos as a party.
And then they realize that Latinos won't vote for them
even if they pretend to be nice. So, in the end, they
reject immigration reform because they think it will make
it harder to win elections.
It's always all about elections, and they assume that the
Democrats only want immigration reform so they can get more voters.
Here's the first thing the elite Republicans need to do.
They need to sit down and ask themselves why they have become
a party of racist assholes. Then they have to consider the
possibility that it sucks to be a party of racist assholes.
The Democrats discovered this forty years ago, and they did
something about it. They passed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights
acts and let Nixon have the racist assholes.
LBJ knew he was giving the South away for several generations.
He did the the right thing anyway. It's time for the GOP to split
with its racist assholes even if that means they can't win
any elections for a while.
A party based on white supremacy, xenophobia, militarism
and corporatism is not a pleasant thing. We fought a major war
to crush a party like that. You can look it up.

It was too funny that Haley Barbour actually stated out loud that the GOP
should consider immigration reform as a ploy to attract the Latino vote,
not because it is the right thing to do. He needs to be taught that this
sort of statement is what the smoke filled back room is for.

They're too stupid to realise that this sort of thing gets reported.
Something we've seen from them in a lot of unrelated areas beyond
their electioneering.

Yeah, we need more white racists like Rudio and Jindahl in the party to whip them democrats into shape...

Yeah, they really don't seem to understand the concept of microphones and recordings and youtube. It's really weird.

General Boykin was a case in point. He was given the job of finding
Bin Laden and his first action was to preach to his congregation that
he had told Muslims that Jesus was stronger than Allah.
The very people whose assistance he needed.
Which, given who he was and what his job was, was remarkably stupid.
Afterwards he whined that his remarks were for Christians, not
Muslims.

Yes. Yes! YES! And I will be laughing at the GOP's demise, and deriving great power from the crybabies' wails and screams in the night.

Sorry, but I'm a skeptic. I want to see Jesus and Allah go mano y mano in an arm wrassling contest before I accept a statement like that.

Preferably a smoke-filled back room without someone taping such
comments on their phone for later publication. One of Romey's
many mistakes, that....
