Catholic Bishops Are Investigating The Girl Scouts

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops sent an "official
inquiry" to the Girl Scouts of the USA.

"The new inquiry will be conducted by the Bishop's committee
on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth. It will look into
whether the Girl Scouts have "possible problematic relationships
with other organizations" and problematic program materials.
Conservative groups accused the Girl Scouts of associating
with Planned Parenthood, which they deny, and giving girls
access to information about sex and sexuality. The group says
it takes no position on sexuality, birth control and abortion.

"The Girl Scouts have been dogged by complaints — the Scouts
call them distortions — for decades. This challenge from the
Catholic Bishops is significant, because many of the troops
are sponsored by Catholic parishes and about a quarter of all
scouts are Catholic."

They're just trying to turn little girls into young women. They didn't
expect the Spanish Inquisition.

The Girl Scouts are fine as long as they stay away from nuns. The
priests mostly go for the little boys.

Maybe the church would be better served if they investigated the child

That will happen on its own without priestly intervention.

The Forgotten Victims Of Priest Sexual Abuse: Girls
April 16 2010

Pat Wingert and Barbara Kantrowitz tackle the issue in
Newsweek, writing that previous conceptions of priest
sexual abuse "seemed to suggest that this scenario
ignored a whole segment of victims: young girls." In
talking to experts, they found that girls were less
likely to face abuse at the hands of priests - at least
among reported cases, there were four male victims for
every one female - but that it did happen. Girls were
typically younger at the time of the abuse, but they
were also more likely to be their abusers' only victim,
and perpetrators who had just one victim were less
likely to abuse for more than a year.

Well, they put the Beatles under the gun and that was a dry hole, maybe
girl scouts will be different.

It's not nice for the high moral code of the Girl Scouts to pray around with
birth control and abortion. They could lose their certification by the RCC.

They already did that. They didn't like what they were finding. So,
they decided to pick on the Girl Scouts, instead.

Many people take the Biblical position that a human soul requires a body
and spirit, with spirit defined as the breath of life, which does not
enter the body of the baby until the doctor spanks it. Since there are
two conflicting opinions, US law defers to the woman, and she remains
secure from unreasonable search and seizure of her person under the
Fourth Amendment.

The child molesters would impose their "morality" on others.

They prove time and again that they could care less what happens to
children in their care; yet pretend to care what happens to children
providing those children are in some one else's care.

Cool, but the first cell division still takes oxygen as does the rest of the
development leading to birth. First breathe is a physical action, not a
spiritual action. As a newborn is a gift of God, so is it's preparation.
Genesis says God breathed physical life into first mankind. John 20 says Jesus
breathed spiritual life into first mankind. There's only two "breathes" in the
bible.

So firstly, we have the separation of the chemicals, 50% in man (sperm) and 50%
in woman (egg) brought together via mutually shaped organs via a most intense
level of excitement.

Secondly, you have a cell split that is human from the getgo. There is no dog
or mosquito to result.

>two conflicting opinions, US law defers to the woman, and she remains

There, you just lost it. You invoke "human law" and specify it valid for
spiritual law.

So why would you vote Republican?

Bush administration increased the number of new pages in
the Federal Registry, a proxy for economic regulation,
from 64,438 new pages in 2001 to 78,090 in new pages
in 2007, a record amount of regulation. Economically
significant regulations, defined as regulations which
cost more than $100 million a year, increased by 70%.
Spending on regulation increased by 62% from $26.4
billion to $42.7 billion.

Interesting.

Was this a local policy?

The Girl Scout organisation in the USA doesn't enforce the God bit the
way the Boy Scouts do.

To the extent that an alternative organisation called something like
the American Heritage Girls was formed that is specifically Christian.

Which is probably why the RCC is poking its nose into yet another area
that is none of its business.

Perhaps it was just the local troop?

Matthew 7:1-5

7 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge
others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured
to you.

3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no
attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let
me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your
own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then
you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Some sound advice there, duke. Maybe you should follow it.

can and can't marry? Taking a way a woman's right to choose? Those
kind of things?

I think they plan to vote Republican, then move overseas, where the GOP is
sending all the jobs. After all, he didn't say he wanted jobs *in
America*, did he?

That's why they're mere humans. FYI, the soul is not an object, an organ. It
is a essence that all humans demonstrate by reflecting a preference for good
over bad, right over wrong, love over hate. It takes a human beings elective
action to turn away..

Nope, spirit is to be guided by above, at least good spirit. ONe can be guide
from below, like with satan..

There are only conflicting opinions by mankind, not by God. And to invoke 4th
amendment means to be guided by mankind's weakness is setting criteria.

President Bush did no such thing. The collapse of the housing market thanks to
'rats carter, clinton, and bfrank were the cause. And more specifically, thanks
to zero leadership from buckwheat, the deficit has sat at $1.3 trillion for the
last 3 years, and the unemployed/underemployed now sits at 23,000,000 workers

Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into

Funny how that fails to prevent them from

Yet Christians are more than willing to hinder the free exercise of
those with a different or a LACK of religous faith.

Then Christians need to quit interfering with those whose faith is not
Christian. No one is FORCING Christians to have abortions or have same
sex marrages. It's the Christians who are trying to force others to
bend to the Christian belief system. If they lived in Afganastan
they'd be knows as the Taliban.

So what happens to all those souls that were implanted t the moment of
conception but the fetus spontaneiously aborted early in development.
IIRC a very high percentage of implanted, fertilized eggs
spontaneously abort before there are even any signs of pregnancey.

Morons like this imagine that because their religion includes making
others join in, and that when they are prevented from imposing it this
abridges their First Amendment freedoms of both speech and religion.

They can't grasp that the First Amen dent also applies to everybody
else's freedom of religious conscience.

Or that it doesn't force people to listen.

Yes, it's called science and the rules are the same for everybody.
Two thirds to three fourths is the estimate of aborted embryos.

Many fundamentalists damn them to hell.
Catholics used to send them to limbo.
What's the current official; version and what is your current idea?

Where can I get one of those? Could save me some
time and effort here, sounds like.

The reason it's a "prevailing argument" is because
a minute's reflection on the claim that god
ensouls humans at the moment of contraception,
along with a rudimentry understanding of human
reproduction, smacks you right in the face with
the unsettling realization that most of these
"persons" die before they can ever get born.

Anyone who didn't realize that on their own is not

Really? "Doctors". How many would that be? Two
minimum, I suppose. Got a list?

Actually, I don't care how many: life does not
"begin" at conception; life began over four
billion years ago, and each living sperm and each
living ovum is the recipient of an unbroken chain
of life reaching back that far.

Playing silly word games by trying to substitute
"life" for "humanity" is either ignorant or
dishonest. You choose.

Incidentally: when is the exact instant of this
"fertilization" you speak of? When the sperm

It is people like you (who demand answers) that cause
others to try to come up with silly answers.
In all actuality, no one knows the mind of God.
We know what He has said (through others).
However, No One knows.

Limbo was NEVER Catholic dogma. Instead, it was a hypothesis --
a theory held out as a possible way to balance the Christian belief
in the necessity of baptism with belief in God's mercy. Like hypotheses
in any branch of science, a theological hypothesis can be proven wrong
or be set aside when it is clear it does not help explain Catholic faith.
http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0506867.htm

Redemptorist Father Tony Kelly, an Australian member of the commission, told
Catholic News Service "the limbo hypothesis was the common teaching of the
church until the 1950s. In the past 50 years, it was just quietly dropped.
"We all smiled a bit when we were presented with this question, but then we
saw how many important questions it opened," including questions about the
power of God's love, the existence of original sin and the need for baptism,
he said. "Pastorally and catechistically, the matter had been solved" with
an affirmation that somehow God in his great love and mercy would ensure
unbaptized babies enjoyed eternal life with him in heaven, "but we had to
backtrack and do the theology," Father Kelly said.

Until the 50's (at least 1957) it was taught in Catholic schools as
though it was the gospel truth.
Perhaps the priests and nuns were totally ignorant of what the "truth"
was but it was taught as dogma.

As for "it was a hypothesis -- a theory held out ... "
You have the concepts backwards hypothesis leads to theory and in
science it would never had been a theory or a hypothesis.

It was, as is all ideas about gods and afterlife, at best a guess based
on what people wanted.

I agree.
I'm sure it was meant to shut some people (with BIG questions) up.

No one likes to admit that they don't KNOW the mind of God.
It is sometimes easier to just make something up.

No one wants to admit the "truth" that they don't know an answer.
It is easier to repeat something that has been whispered before.

I don't buy your answer.

Yes, that is true.

Perhaps in your world.
I've made a lot of money because of people who made things up.

The new client would ask a question and I'd say "I don't know." They
would *always* tell me that the other guy did and I would always ask why
they hired me. Usually they got the message.

I'm quite aware of Chick tracts, including the
ones you refer to.

There are perhaps one Catholic bashing tract for
every twenty bashing non-believers -- such as
myself -- in general.

But you know? No Chick tract raises the argument I
did, that your beliefs on this, combined with
biological fact, inevitably leads to the
conclusion that hundreds of thousands of "ensouled
human beings" die every single day, utterly
unnoticed.

Quite the opposite: I am aware of at least two
tracts that take your point of view on abortion.
In other words: they're on your side.

Isn't that just so nice? You should send Jack a
fan letter. Or maybe even order a 1000-pack and
hand them out yourself.
Does this smug and condescending attitude one
apparently acquires at the thought of having the
Cosmic Get Out of Jail Free Card dictate that one
must always make snarky non-replies to substantive
points ... or is it just you?

Oh, and by the way? If you think I'm here to
bash Catholicism, you are mistaken.

My motivation is to point out the oppressive
actions of anyone who would deny a woman
her right to choose based on the utterly absurd
notion that the instant a sperm penetrates an
ovum, another person is abruptly in the room.

That's all. Other than that, if your religion,
whatever it might be, keeps its paws off
me and mine, I happily encourage you to
give yourself to your personal choice of the tens of
thousands of mythologies humans have
invented.

АА RCism was not always this way Seth. During the 16th Century there
were several popes who pretty much left the decision up to the woman and
her physician.

Nobody has ever heard of a non-believer ct.

WE Catholics understand that. It comes with education. Although it's now time
for you to reveal where you got "hundreds of thousands" which you are now
claiming as your own number.

Abortion is evil, and the practioner faces the fires of hell.
