"No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,
and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Luke 16:13
The Good Book??
Well, the good book is not always good in its advice.
But, neither is the good book always bad. (as the atheists like to
portray.)
Seldom is 'a thing' all bad or all good.
And so it goes in the goods book's case.
But the dogmatic atheist discounts the bible as all bad, just as they
do with ALL religions and spiritual studies.
For my discussion of this subject see:
'The conundrum of the mind manacled, spiritually sick, atheist.'
When we are 'in love'...the emotion of love can blind us.
You see we cannot 'be in a religion' and be rational about that
religion until one steps outside of the religion to look at it fairly
to drop the love sickness.
And this 'love blindness' also extends to the dogmatic atheist that
loves the religion of hate that fuels them.

V writes:
I appreciate your input 'Atheist for Christianity.'
Your comment reminded me of a Sunday morning radio talk I once
heard.
I can't remember the exact preacher, maybe Jerry Falwell or possibly
some other.
Anyway, he said he would stick by his family even when they are in the
wrong and stand up for them as if they were right...because they were
family.
The Baptist fundi audience all clapped.
This preacher implied family overrides truth...just as Christians
should stick together as a family irrespective of what is true.
Sure, sometimes that may be the case in a family when minor things are
at issue. But at some point honor and truth must override family
loyalties, otherwise continuing of the path of lies will eventually
lead the whole family to destruction.
The preacher's position was as an 'authoritarian on truth' and not as
an authority of truth and can be summed up as: something is true
because I say so, not because it really is so.
Always remember 'Atheist for Christianity,' the difference between an
authority and an authoritarian is this.
An authority speaks from a place of truth and such speaks as an
authority.
Whereas an authoritarian rules by fear and not by truth.
For the truth stands on it own and the authoritarian stands on their
ego 'Atheist for Christianity.'
But this is how it is with most Christians and atheists as both camps
are... DOGMATIC and IGNORANT of the truth.
How has history fueled such authoritarians?
With the doctrine of 'might makes right.'
When I heard the preacher tell his story, it spoke loud and clear
about the real person behind the public facade.
It is good to remember that honor dies where the interest lies
'Atheist for Christianity.'
Which is just what you have demonstrated here with the blanket
statement "People must not flame their own kind. (V)"
Where is your foundation of truth 'Atheist for Christianity?'
There is no foundation for truth...the only foundation is for family
loyalty and truth be damned.
In any case, I flame no one 'Atheist for Christianity.'
I love the members of alt.atherism as if they were my family
BUT
I do comment on wrong speech, wrong actions, wrong humanity...EVEN
when it stems from within my family.
To do otherwise would be disservice to my family and the family would
decay.
The bible reminds us:
"If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give
him a stone?" Luke 11:11
Does this advice only exist as a truth if the myth of Jesus is not
myth?
Or is this real and substantial wisdom irrespective of Jesus being
real?
Think about what is said and not about who says what 'Atheist for
Christianity.'
When you concentrate on people, you will lose the mindfulness on the
real principles at hand in the discussion.
Years ago, I was told at alt.atheism if I shut up, tow the line,
agreed with the atheists on all points, all transgressions would be
forgiven me 'Atheist for Christianity.'
Since public opinion is not the same as truth, my policy is not to be
swayed by threats.
Flaming, filth, profanities...they all roll off me like water off a
ducks back.
As such, I am not a kiss ass to the atheists, not any other group for
that matter.
If the atheists give me something positive to write about I do.
If the atheists give me something negative to write about I do
I can go left easily as easily as I can go right.
Sure I comment on some members.
But I comment on their actions and not on their personalties.
Let me give you another example 'Atheist for Christianity.'
While watching an old episode of Boston Legal this same subject came
up when the Boston lawyers found themselves in Texas appeal court
defending a criminal that was to be executed in a couple of days.
Besides shedding doubt on the plaintiffs case, the Boston team brought
up the fact that Texas led the nation in wrongful executions that have
been proven to be mistakes and asked the courts for short time to
reconsider this case since they had some new evidence to present.
The defendants attorneys told the court that Texas accounted for 50%
of the executions whereas the other 49 states accounted for the other
50%. So Texas was presented as a trigger happy death sentence state
riddled with mistaken executions. (Remember it is a TV show, so do not
hold me accountable for real life exact figures.)
What did one prejudiced appeal judge beat down the Boston defense team
with?
He angrily told them:
"I advise you not to talk about the great state of Texas."
The panel of judges closed their mind to the discussion and let the
execution stand.
Am I a proponent for banning the death penalty?
No...I am a proponent to get at the truth the best we can in a
reasonable fashion.
People say they are interested in truth, but alas they are not really
interested in truth, they are only interested in moving forward with
their ego driven agenda.
You see, the judge who was supposed to uphold the law and put reason
above passion seemed to be getting two of the 'T' words confused.
He put 'Texas' above the 'Truth.'
Peace and contentment is not limited to any one religion and are open
to all...even at alt.atheism.
Seek truth and not ego 'Atheist for Christianity' and you can find
inner peace as well.
An antique English silver goblet I once saw in a museum said it best.
It's long dead, previous owner had it inscribed ...'Honor Above All'
The truth is that which does not change 'Atheist for Christianity.'

You're neither "tough" nor "fair". You're pretty much nothing more
than an egotistical troll. But since you start threads about how
people responds to you and your vapid, overlong and devoid-of-contents
posts, then yeah, you *are* a vindictive, arrogant alcoholic.
Have a six-pack. Or a quart of something. Please.

Whether you are tough and fair is irrelevant to whether you are
vindictive. You ARE in denial, however.
You want to be taken seriously, but no one does. Most people take that
as a sign that they might need to modify their behaviour, that there's
something they can do, a compromise they can make, to improve their
situation. For instance, they might learn to recognize when they have
encountered a simple disagreement, which is when two parties have
different opinions about something. Instead of trying to browbeat the
other party to agree with them, they learn to back off and allow the
other party their opinion.
You haven't learned that. You are furious that atheists don't buy your
brand of theism. If you stopped at saying you believe in a God of
Inner Peace and a God of (whatever the fuck it is) then fine, you're
just another theist. But you don't. You also claim you're an agnostic.
You avoid addressing this obvious contraciction (which is just one of
hundreds) when we point it out, and instead post out of context posts
about the people who question you, designed to make them feel the same
pain that you obviously feel.
That is a vindictive act. Doesn't matter if you deny it, avoid
responding, attack my character in a new post, it doesn't change the
fact.
I have no idea how you got like this, that's about all I'm curious
about. Like I said, most people would be embarrassed if they behaved
like you do, and change their behaviour, but you just get more
entrenched and browbeat the people you hate even more. I am thinking
you have wrapped your psychology in the religious concept that
suffering is the sign of the godliest of the godly, so you create a
world in which your suffering is assured. To me, that's insane. But
I'm an atheist, so IF there is no god, then I'm right. But YOU'RE a
theist, so it fits your theist beliefs perfectly well. Martyrdom is
the religious ideal. It's just really odd that you think you can
achieve this off the backs of anonymous strangers typing messages on a
TV screen. You must have really pissed everyone off who you know in
person so that we're all you have left.
I have a different perspective. I'm an atheist. Humans are one of
millions of species of animals. Humans are social animals. Since we
are social animals, pro-social behaviour is a successful strategy and
anti-social behaviour is an unsuccessful strategy. You have been
confused by religion to think martyrdom is an ideal, so you achieve
that by behaving in an anti-social manner. Being a theist trying to
join an atheist group is a great way to feel matryred. Except in your
case, you're not a very good martyr, since you get really pissed off
at people for not acknowledging your noble suffering. So you lash out
at them. I have evidence. Lots of it. You are vindictive.
