Yes indeed it's old, and thus far we have nothing objective proving
that it's not a whole lot older than 13.75 GY.

Whatever planets. moons and asteroids associated with Sirius(B) should
date as being only 256 +/- some odd million years old, and those set
free from much older white dwarfs that have cooled below 3800 K should
be 1000+ GY old.

"Barrow and Tipler estimate that it would take 1e15 years for a white
dwarf to cool to 5 K", however, if weakly interacting massive
particles exist, it is possible that interactions with these particles
will keep some white dwarfs much warmer than this for approximately
1e25 years."

The recent WDs of 3800 K and only 100 ly from us as being interpreted
as only 12 GY old is simply not possible, because anything of a WD
star that's cooled off by that much is simply much older.  The only
other option is that these are a new breed of RDs or BDs of only .6s
Ms and considerable metallicity.
