prevent total receding of the sea water thereby preventing even more
damage. Many Japanese were hopefully saved this way rather then

The latest 6.2 at only 1 km depth is looking seriously bad, because
this one could turn into a volcano or one hell of a sinkhole. Then
another 6.1 off the coast (less than 3 minutes later) makes this into
a stereophonic seismic event, whereas the next big one could exceed

Figures are always low at the start, wait a couple weeks and the

Actual nuclear explosions are highly unlikely (even from their MOX
fuel). However, bursting amounts of vaporized nuclear fuel is
actually worse than relatively clean thermonuclear explosions, because
of their dirty long-term kill and numerous genetic mutations that are
so much greater than modern tactical nukes. For example, if those
local winds had been reversed (as coming onshore instead of blowing
offshore), a very large portion of Japan would already look and remain
worse than Chernobyl. Their options are almost nil unless weather
