I've just bought a print of Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace", and I wondered if
anyone knows whether the stars are accurately positioned. You'll find a
reproduction at http://www.vangoghgallery.com/painting/p_0467.htm.
It's known that his "Starry Night" is accurate, and the position of
Venus in "White House at Night" has been used to date the picture, but I
can't find anything on "Cafe Terrace"

Maybe you already checked out Sky & Telescope archives, as they did a few
stories about Vincent van Gogh paintings with stars; I really don't know if
the Café Terrace was amongst them.
