My Theory on Venus's Spin

Venus spins at a fast walk. (why?) It once had a Moon that was only
8,000 miles from its surface. It revolved in the opposite direction of
the planets spin. Their mutual gravity field was slowing down both there
rate of spin. However being in such a low orbit the Moon crashed into
Venus breaking its spin speed to what we measure in this spacetime. Our
twin planet "once upon a time" had a spin speed like our Earth and Mars.
It had a Moon the same size as our moon. Venus's Moon was to close for
comfort. Bert

Good theory. In fact I've never heard another credible
explanation to account for Venus' rotation.

But just out of curiosity, how did you come up with 8K miles
for the moon's distance?

Nospam Thanks for the complement. Now if Ducky Wit don't like it, then
I'm sure its a good theory. Why 8,000 miles you asked?. Well our Moon
was once 25,000 miles from Earth. In time its orbit got bigger and
rounder. When Venus's moon was captured I wanted it in a low
destructive orbit. Not enough time to move further out,and be in good
balance with gravity. Bert

But a planet as large as Venus has a substantial Roche Limit:

RL = 2.456*R*(p1/p2)^(1/3)

where p1 is the density of the planet, p2 is the density of the moon,
and R is the radius of the planet. Have you done the math?

Bert doesn't provide mathematical tests for his ideas. That way they
cannot be tested against reality and it gives him a false sense of
superiority. Note that he doesn't demonstrate how Venus could capture a
body large enough to alter its own rotation rate, and the 8000 mile
value simply has no support given current physics. But reality does not
stand in his way.

The more likely cause of the slow, retrograde rotation of Venus is that
it underwent a collision early on during its formation which caused it
to be flipped upside down from its original orientation. Collisions
likely played a greater roll than could be contemplated by astronomers
in the past because they did not have the computing power to test their
ideas. Observations of what appear to be debris rings around some
nearby stars, likely the result of collisions between bodies in them,
have served as an impetus to explore this idea more thoroughly. Hence
the collisional-ejection model of the Moon's formation and the support
of that idea based on discovery of Pluto's smaller satellites.

OK Ducky wit I can figure out equations for gravity(particle
attractions) using the gravitational constant "G" Two objects times the
G and divided by the square of the distance between their centers. Now
it goes like this The Sun is a third of a million times as massive as
our Earth but the Earth's center is only 4,000 miles under our feet
while the Sun is 93,000,000 miles away from us. in order to calculate
the quantity 330,000 divided by 93,000,000/4000^2 in order to measure
the relative strengths of the Sun and the Earth. This amounts to a puny
0.06 percent(one part in around 1,640 of the Earth's pull My late
great math friend Joe(very smart) taught me some math. Its kind of
boring(have no real love for it (nor need) What I just posted is
Newton's universal law of gravitation and the equation is F=GMm/d^2
How does my clever mind relate the Sun's very weak gravitational force.
One thought that jumps in goes like this. During an equinox, and at the
equator as well the Sun has nothing to do with tipping an egg
Reality is the Sun has no influence on the Egg. I think I will brush up
on the math Joe taught me,and some math books he gave me. Use it
more in my posts. Thank you all for your criticizing my non use of
math. I hope to do better to make my posts more interesting and math has
to help. Bert PS I do know how to add and subtract, and believe in

Using a calculator isn't cheating. But it does help to have more of a knowledge
of things like relative effects.

You are wrong - most thinking people have gone with the
collisional-ejection theory. Those that can't continue to rave on (note
any similarity).

As to the math, go look it up yourself. The papers are published and
are likely online.

Math will work in any dimension you choose to play with. That excuse

Isn't it humorous that I tried to explain why you have no "theory"
without resorting to name calling and you, with no abilities in this
field, can do nothing but. I would say that proves more than anything
how poor your idea really is.

You are rapidly turning into usenet's equivalent of the old tramp who walks

So far that I can remember:

* Kook of the Month
* Coward of the Month
* Palmjob Paddle
* Busted Urinal

Running away via post editing and trimming newsgroups are the two very
best ways to win a Coward of the Month. Looney Maroon is repeatable,
so he is again eligible.

He doesn't know what the term means, otherwise he would have post
edited it away.

No, you did not disprove it. You stated it, but that does not disprove
it. For, you see, it can be demonstrated to work. It has been shown
that by gravity alone, some material blasted into space will collect
into a single body orbiting the Earth in a stable orbit. To disprove
it, you would have to find errors in the methods that show it work.
That you have not done.

As to stupid, the word prior to that word in your diatribe is "too", not
"to". We won't even go into the grammatical errors you constantly produce.

Professor Scott of UL I also proved it by the 830lb of Moon rock tested
here on Earth. That theory that the Moon came out of the
Earth is as old and just as bad as the Earth came out of the Sun. It is
very hard to reason with you Scott. Your brain is carved in stone.

Actually, the collisional-ejection theory got its legs from the moon
rocks that were returned. Planetary scientists eliminated cocreation,
capture, and fission theories with that material. Be kind of nice if
you could keep up with modern thinking. But, then, it would interfere
with your fantasy world, wouldn't it?

I've recently taken him out of my killfile to enjoy his wonderful posting
style. He just so badly wants to be owned, and I'm sure we can litter train
him. I've got a spray full of water if I catch him shitting on the carpet again.

You'd think after all these gay lames you'd accidently hit on one that
was kinda funny.

No such luck.

Did you know that Dishonest John's mother was born with a penis?
And not only that, but she was so stupid that the doctor cut it
off shortly after she was born. It's true, I read it on Usenet!

There's a reason the usual tolerated speed on I-40 through
Arkansas is about 90mph, you know.

Outhouse actually serves one useful purpose. He stops NightBat being the most
pathetic poster on alt.astronomy. I guess he's only come back to stop NB
winning so many awards.
