Of course, the Alyea film, which shows the weapon clearly, shows it to

Just the way that where people THOUGHT the shots came from somehow
ECLIPSES physical evidence like three recovered shells, a recovered weapon
(PLUS eyewitness accounts of a man shooting a rifle/a rifle being
withdrawn from the window in question, a man hearing the actual bolt
action of the rifle ABOVE him etc etc) in Lane/Holmes world.

It is to laugh, as they say.

Never rely on witnesses. The acoustical evidence proves that three shots
came from the sniper's nest.
