6.) On Trial: Lee Harvey Oswald (1986 Cable-TV Docu-Trial, featuring
Vincent Bugliosi as prosecuting attorney vs. Gerry Spence as Oswald's
lawyer)(MPI Home Video)(2-Disc DVD Set). .... Actual witnesses to
JFK's assassination give testimony during this 5.5-hour televised Docu-
Trial. .... Witnesses appearing include: Wesley Frazier, Charles
Brehm, Eugene Boone, Bill Newman, Harold Norman, Ruth Paine, Marrion
Baker, Lyndal Shaneyfelt, Paul O'Connor, Vincent Guinn, Ted Callaway,
Nelson Delgado, and Johnny Brewer. ....

Dr. Cyril Wecht, noted JFK conspiracy advocate, also appears as a
witness. Wecht's lively confrontation with prosecuting attorney
Bugliosi is truly classic stuff. Mr. Bugliosi is on top of his game
when questioning Dr. Wecht regarding the whereabouts of the bullet
that Wecht claims went through JFK but did not hit Governor Connally,
who was seated in front of President Kennedy---

"It's coming on a downward path, Cyril! It's coming on a downward path
into the Presidential limousine, goes through the President's body,
misses Governor Connally, and MAGICALLY also misses the driver and
doesn't do ANY damage to the Presidential limousine?!?! ... What
happened to that PRISTINE bullet when it came through President
Kennedy's body?!" ....

Some of the most intense (and very interesting) testimony during "On
Trial: Lee Harvey Oswald" comes from Ruth Paine, who, even 23 years
after the horrible Friday in 1963, still feels the pain of that day.
That fact comes through loud and clear via her emotion-filled comments
to both Mr. Bugliosi and Mr. Spence during her time on the witness
stand. This whole "trial" provides a fascinating and very unique look
at a sad chapter in American history. ....

9.) John F. Kennedy: Years Of Lightning, Day Of Drums (1964)(Gregory
Peck narrates). .... This is one of the very finest JFK documentaries
ever made. A first-class production all the way, including Mr. Peck's
stellar narration and the impeccable music score that was composed by
Bruce Herschensohn (who also wrote and directed the film). .... This
film was made in 1964, but it didn't premiere in movie theaters until
April of 1966. ....

Memorable quote from "Years Of Lightning, Day Of Drums":

"And it was true the President was killed. But it was also true that
the assassin missed his target, for he wanted John Kennedy to die; and
that he was unable to do. For no man can take away years of lightning
with a single day of drums." ....

Very interesting.

I did not look at the whole think, just
the part with Dr. Wecht, Part 21-23 of 30.
In Part 21, at around 5:50 (and other times)
we get a good look at Dr. Wecht's Anti SBT
diagram.

I am disappointed that Bugliosi did not
point out that the Anti SBT diagram that
Dr. Wecht was using was totally off.
The horizontal angle is off by at least
a factor of 3.

If we define:

* a bullet coming in from straight
behind as coming in at 0 degrees.

* a bullet coming in from straight
from the right as coming in at
90 degrees.

Dr. Wecht's diagram shows the bullet coming
in at an angle of 30-35 degrees (I would
estimate). The true angle is 5-10 degrees.

He seemed to accept the Wecht geometry.
Granted, he did successfully point out,
that even with this geometry, the bullet
should hit the driver or at least some
part of the limousine. But no such bullet
was found. Indeed, even if the bullet
comes in at 90 degrees, strikes JFK in
the neck, it can't clear the left side
of the limousine.

Dr. Wecht pointed out that bullet
fragments were found in the front
of the limousine. Bugliosi pointed
out that the bullet should not be
fragmented, but pristine from only
passing through the soft tissue
of JFK's neck.

Technically, Bugliosi was wrong about
that bullet. It would definitely still
be pristine after passing through
the neck. But it would definitely be
fragmented upon striking metal. Still,
no hit on the driver, no damage to the
left of the driver to the side of the
limousine. The fragments found only
added up to 40% of a bullet and are
best associated with the head shot,
as is the damage to the windshield
and windshield frame. None of the
damage was near the far left side
of the limousine.

But the big point is, no challenge to
the accuracy of Dr. Wecht's diagram.
I wonder why there was no challenge?

Looking at maps, photographs, etc.,
it's obvious the bullet would come
in at a much shallower angle,
of 5 to 10 degrees, not 30+ as Wecht's
diagram shows.

Dr. Wecht's diagram is even more
inaccurate than the Costner diagram
in the movie JFK.

I think it is potentially disastrous for
Dr. Wecht to show a diagram that shows
a bullet through JFK's neck will not only
miss Connally's wound location, but will
even miss Connally altogether.

This has to be challenged. It makes
the Warren Commission appear to push
a theory that can't be right, if this
diagram is accepted as true. And the
diagram is easily proven false.

Questions for David:

Have you ever discussed this issue with
Bugliosi?

Do you know why Bugliosi did not challenge
the accuracy of that diagram?

*****************************************

Clay Shaw Diagram Questions:

I also want to know about the Clay Shaw
trial. In the real trial of Clay Shaw,
did Garrison's team try to pull a fast
one with a diagram like that?

Do we have a picture of such a diagram
that would have been used in that trial.

Do we know what challenge was made to
such a diagram, if such a diagram was used?

Thanks David

I haven't found the real-life equivalent of the scene in Oliver
Stone's "JFK" where Garrison demonstrates CE399's "impossible"
trajectory using two stand-ins in court, and a diagram. In the
published film script, Stone's footnotes for that scene refer to
Josiah Thompson's book "Six Seconds in Dallas", not to the trial
transcript.

Garrison's jury summary in the actual trial did touch on the subject
of the bullet trajectory, but did not use stand-ins, and does not have
the dialogue attributed to Garrison in "JFK":
http://www.aarclibrary.org/publib/jfk/garr/trial/Feb_28b/html/Feb_28b_0016a.htm

I could be wrong, and there may have been such a demonstration earlier
in the trial. But I haven't found it in the trial transcript.

For good reason, Garrison never gave a closing argument in the real trial.
That part of JFK movie was pure fiction.

DVP SAYS:

I've wondered that same thing myself, Joe.

No, I've never discussed that particular issue with Vince Bugliosi (or
through his secretary, Rosemary Newton, which is the only way I've ever
"contacted" Vince).

But a possible (partial) reason for why Vince didn't challenge Wecht's
skewed diagram is because Wecht told the jury at the 1986 TV docu- trial
that he was of the opinion (via his own personal "analysis") that at least
one of the bullets that struck JFK from behind had originated from the
WEST end of the Texas School Book Depository and from the second floor,
instead of from Oswald's sixth-floor window on the east end of the TSBD
building.

Dr. Wecht's make-believe west-end gunman is the thing that enables Wecht
to pretend that the bullet that went through President Kennedy was able to
miss Governor Connally completely.

And Cyril's "second floor" theory also enables the good doctor to pretend
that the bullet was able to somehow miss the entire limousine after
exiting JFK's throat as well (via the not-as-steep angle for the bullet
that is provided by Wecht's make-believe "second floor" TSBD assassin).

But there's one part of Wecht's diagram that Bugliosi should have strongly
objected to and should have verbally ripped to shreds....and that's the
positioning of John Connally within that diagram.

Wecht does have Connally correctly sitting inboard of President Kennedy
(which is unusual for a diagram/chart/sketch that's being propped up by a
conspiracist), but that diagram doesn't show Governor Connally turned in
his jump seat at all, which is definitely inaccurate and misleading, and
is something that Bugliosi should have mentioned at the top of his lungs
at the '86 TV trial. But he didn't (AFAIK).

Prosecutor Bugliosi should have probably produced a sketch of his own when
cross-examining Dr. Wecht -- such as an accurate sketch like this one here
(which appears in the photo section of Bugliosi's 2007 JFK book):

http://reclaiming-history.googlegroups.com/web/006.+%22SINGLE-BULLET+THEORY%22+ARTIST+RENDERING+FROM+%22RECLAIMING+HISTORY%22?gda=gzk12oAAAADr6tC8UyTBgT86VBHer5Z9IYxm-lTD6fqL5i0NkbiGdk76MdYYVGWe4xCeudBp4D7PSWMDT0v92SDsA6sF9dz3qDp2A80yY1hoIfdPgxd3ghBMCWhozHDO5cP7ReQaMZ4l2zE31l1CfvB26vvyrXnPbcVT3VtYGKLco-_l-8AzjQ

Another thing that Bugliosi should have nailed Wecht for at the '86 trial
is when Wecht said that JFK's head was "driven backward and to the left
with substantial force at the moment of impact with the head wound", which
is a statement that everyone knows is 100% false. Kennedy's head isn't
"driven backward and to the left" at the precise "moment of impact" at
Z313 -- JFK's head, instead, moves FORWARD at the precise "moment of
impact" (between Zapruder Film frames 312 and 313).

That very important point regarding JFK's initial forward head movement
was established by Mr. Bugliosi earlier in the trial (during the testimony
of Cecil Kirk), but when Dr. Wecht wanted to leave the incorrect
impression in the minds of the jurors that Kennedy's head moved to the
rear at the critical "moment of impact", Vince should have thrown the
truth of the matter back into Cyril's face during VB's cross-examination
of Wecht.

Related stuff:

Vincent Bugliosi debated Dr. Cyril Wecht on Pittsburgh radio station WPTT
in June 2007, with the Single-Bullet Theory being the prime focus of that
radio debate. And after I first listened to it, I was scratching my head
and asking myself why in the world Bugliosi didn't bring up a couple of
key points that would totally embarrass Dr. Wecht. These points:

1.) Why didn't Bugliosi bring up the fact that the bullets that were fired
for the Warren Commission's tests at Edgewood Arsenal were NOT fired
through TWO BODIES OR ANIMALS (to properly simulate the flight path of the
SBT and the damage to Bullet CE399)? This was a rather large oversight on
Bugliosi's part during the 2007 radio debate; and it was also a large
oversight on Vincent's part during the 1986 mock trial as well.

It's possible, I suppose, that Vince did bring up this very important
point when he cross-examined Dr. Wecht at the '86 trial in London and
perhaps the editors of the TV trial snipped out that portion of Wecht's
testimony due to time restrictions.

But in the 5-hour version of the docu-trial that aired in 1986, Bugliosi
never once mentions the fact that the WC/Edgewood test bullets were fired
directly into rib and wrist bones, which are tests that don't come close
to replicating what CE399 is said to have done by the Warren Commission.

It should also be noted that the WC test bullet that was fired directly
into a wrist bone (which is bullet that Dr. Wecht loves to prop up so
much) not only didn't have the benefit of initially travelling through any
kind of a simulated "JFK neck", but that particular test bullet also
didn't travel through a simulated "Connally chest" before reaching its
"wrist" target.

So, in the final analysis, the Edgewood Arsenal bullet tests are pretty
much worthless for the anti-SBT purposes that Dr. Wecht loves to
continually utilize them for.

2.) When the topic of "Has The SBT Ever Been Duplicated?" came up during
the radio debate, Mr. Bugliosi should certainly have mentioned the
Discovery Channel program that was made in 2004, "Beyond The Magic
Bullet". And that's a program that had Vince HIMSELF making an appearance,
too!

"Beyond The Magic Bullet" did, indeed, properly simulate the SBT by firing
a Carcano bullet like Oswald's through TWO surrogate bodies, with the
results being very similar in character to the Single-Bullet Theory,
including the test bullet emerging in a totally-unfragmented condition.
Here's the Discovery Channel test bullet:

http://216.122.129.112/dc/user_files/6735.jpg

I don't know why Mr. Bugliosi didn't mention those two important issues
during the 2007 radio debate after Dr. Wecht started talking about how the
WC test bullets were "mushroomed" and more flattened, etc.

But, IMO, Vince should have talked about those things I mentioned, in
order to significantly deflate Wecht's anti-SBT arguments.

I'm not entirely sure, Joe. I'll defer those inquiries to resident

Jeez, try to pay attention. It was a Hollywood movie. That is called

I don't see such an angle as being the same as the angle in the diagram.
And I believe Wecht had nothing to do with drawing that original
diagram. It is not supposed to represent his particular theory.

But by the time of the HSCA Wecht had agreed with the HSCA entry and
exit points, which produces a smaller angle than that diagram.

Oh please. Bugliosi was not that organized back then.
And he farmed out the task for his book which produced a bizarre diagram
which seems to disagree with all the other WC defender diagrams.

I don't think Wecht said it happened at the precise moment of impact. I
think he said the force of the shot moved the head back.
Show me where Wecht said explicity between Zapruder frames 312 and 313.
I suspect you are making up crap again.

Bugliosi's diagram shows a SBT at frame 210 and it shows Connally facing
forward.

So, do you agree with Bugliosi that the SBT happened at frame 210? If not,
then why are you not attacking him the way you attack Wecht? I think the
answer is clear. You always argue with a double standard. If a conspiracy
believer does something you disagree with he is evil. But if a WC defender
does something you disagree with he is perfect. You castigate Wecht for
showing Connally facing forward and then you don't say anything about
Bugliosi doing exactly the same thing. And what about Bugliosi having the
bullet make a sharp turn to get from the wrist to the thigh? How can you
have a sharp turn like that if the bullet went THROUGH the wrist?

Questions you won't answer and can't answer because an honest answer will
show the bankruptcy of your position.

Vincent Bugliosi did all right. And,
after watching the complete videos
that you provided of the 1986 mock
trial, I now kind of think that
Oswald probably did it. Just kidding.
If I was serious, you might have to
consider not recommending that video.

No, Vincent Bugliosi did a very good job,
overall. But that diagram should be
questioned. If it is based on a West
corner sniper, it should be made very clear
to the sniper that the diagram is not
based on the Oswald sniper nest East window.
Of course one can disprove the SBT if it
is assumed that the shot that caused JFK's
neck wound was from a shot from the western
window. Heck, one can really disprove the
SBT if I assume that shot came from the
Grassy Knoll. Talk about a Magic Bullet.

I don't think they would have cut out
the part where Vincent Bugliosi shows
that the diagram does not match reality
because that would have been great drama.

Much of what Vincent Bugliosi did was very
good. Like the orderly, whose job was to
remove JFK's brain, but found that when it was
time for him to do his job, JFK had no brain.
But Bugliosi asked him, was it possible that
for JFK, the doctors decided to do that job
themselves? Could that be why JFK had no
brain? I would think that, yes, that may be
the explanation. And why the orderly didn't
bring this up with HSCA while being
questioned for hours. I wonder if JFK was
the only one without a brain.

The defense was good but questionable.
Like asking is a coincidence that Ruth
Paine could speak Russian, took in Marina,
got Oswald his job, had unknowingly stored
the rifle in her garage.

Naturally, Oswald and Marina would likely
make friends with someone who was interested
in better relations with Russia and who could
speak Russian. After that, the people who
would likely provide a room for Marina,
a place where some of Oswald's things could
be stored, who might help Oswald find a job,
would not be like picking names out of a
phone book at random, but could all be from
one person that Oswald knew, particularly
based on the few number of people that Oswald
knew.

As a defense attorney, I would not touch
the subject of how it was that Ruth Paine
helped Oswald get Oswald's job, from a tip
from a neighbor whose brother worked at the
TSBD, in October while the Secret Service
picked the route in November.

Yes. Josiah Thompson's Anti SBT diagram
is not too exaggerated. Probably, at the
time of the trial, they had not yet
discovered how powerful a "Big Lie"
Anti SBT diagram could be. It may also be
that even if they thought about trying
this, the Shaw defense team would likely
shoot it down. It's best to use in books
and movies. Risky in a trial, when the
other side can rebut it.

The earliest "Big Lie" Anti SBT diagram
that I am aware of is Dr. Wecht's diagram
presented to the HSCA in 1978.

An Anti SBT diagram can be effective if one
changes the true horizontal angle from
5-10 degrees to 15 degrees, but it's more
effective is one goes with 25-30 degrees.
It can be effective if one changes Connally
from being 6 inches inboard of JFK to
4 inches, but even more effective if he
is 0 inches inboard. And not having
Connally turned to the right is useful as
well.

The key is don't have the SBT out of
alignment by 4 or 6 inches. It's best
to show it out of alignment by 18 or 24
inches. Subconsciously, a person can
tell that a "Big Lie" Anti SBT would
be easily seen as false if one checks
the photographs, therefore, it cannot
be false and there is no need to
double check it.

A "Big Lie" Anti SBT is inherently more
effective than a "Small Lie" version.
It's great weakest, that it is easily
proven false, is also it's great strength.

Also, a secondary advantage is it
avoids hitting Connally altogether.
By "Side Stepping" Connally, they side
step the question that if a "Small Lie"
Anti SBT diagram is accurate, a bullet
though JFK wounds would strike Connally
in the middle of his back, not in his
right armpit, so JFK and Connally had
to be hit by two separate bullets, then
why didn't Connally end up with two
wounds in his back? Why did he only
have one?

Which diagram? Place the diagram you have in mind onto a map of Dealey
Plaza and prove where the line intersects the TSBD.

Yes, he did. At the '86 mock trial.

No, it doesn't. Bugliosi's diagram in his book shows Connally turned to
his right?

Why does Tony always want to distort stuff? Why?

His captions says his SBT is at Z-210 and it shows Connally facing forward.

Quote where he said it happened between frames Z-312 and Z-313.

TONY MARSH SAID:

"I don't think Wecht said it ["back & to the left"] happened at the
precise moment of impact."

DVP THEN SAID:

"Yes, he did. At the '86 mock trial."

TONY MARSH THEN SAID:

"Quote where he [Dr. Wecht] said it happened between frames Z-312 and
Z-313."

DVP NOW SAYS:

Okay.....

No mention of frame Z-312. At Z-313 he starts to move backward and to
the left.

1st. The SBT is incorrect. It has to be.

Kennedy was shot from the sixth floor into the right shoulder. Right? And
at a downward angle. The bullet did not go straight through Kennedy's
neck, as so many "experts" say it did. There is no entry wound in the back
of Kennedy's neck. The entry wound from the rear is at least six inches
way from the neck wound in his shoulder.

The projection through the body shows Connally could not be hit by the
same bullet.

The wounds do not line up. The bullet entered and change directions inside
Kennedy's body, without hitting a bone or damaging the bullet. The angle
would have to change to the left 180 degrees and moved upward and out his
neck, traveling up and away from the motorcade and not straight through
into Connelly.

The bullet would then have to halved changed directions by another 180
degrees back downward in order to strike Connally in the back and break
his rib. Still not damage the bullet. Change directions again, break his
rib again, exit his body and boomerang off his right wrist. Change
directions again 180 degrees and enter Connally's thigh. And the bullet is
never shown signs of striking any bone any where. The pristine bullet is
not damaged, as though it was fired through water or some other liquid
substance. Hence it was called the "MAGIC" bullet theory.

Everything uttered by "Questionin" above is total nonsense. And one
look at CE903 proves its pure nonsense:

Thanks for posting that. It again proves that Specter's SBT is impossible.
BTW, who wrote the explanatory text under the WC exhibit?
The author should make clear those are only his fantasies and not part
of the official WC conclusions.

JFK's back wound had an "Upward Trajectory".

CE903 proves no such thing. CE903, inmstead, pretty much demonstrates the
perfection of the Single-Bullet Theory....right down to Specter's rod
being placed nicely into the actual bullet hole in John Connally's jacket.
It's a shame that you can't see this fact, Tony.

But, as usual, all anti-SBT conspiracists (like Anthony Marsh, et al) feel
the need to abandon all notions of logic and common sense before they ever
step into the arena marked "JFK Research".

Pardon me if I refuse to revise my caption that I used for the CE903

===================

A SBT ADDENDUM BY JEAN DAVISON:

"[Conspiracy theorists] claim that the entry wound HAD to be raised
to the "back of the neck" in order to make the Warren Commission's single
bullet theory work. But the assertion isn't supported, it's simply a
claim. Furthermore, the claim is false, since there was no need to raise
the wound into the nape of the neck. Here's the official WC illustration
of the SBT, Commission Exhibit 903:

http://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh18/html/WH_Vol18_0055b.htm

"Whether one agrees with it or not, that IS the WC's trajectory for
the single bullet, and as you can see, it doesn't require an entry in "the
back of the neck". .... My question is still, what evidence is there that
Ford made his revision in order to support the SBT? ....

"To my knowledge, [nobody] has ever explained how moving the back
wound up to THE NECK supports the SBT. Nobody CAN support it, because
moving the entry to the neck would destroy the WC's SBT trajectory, not
strengthen it.

"Again I'll refer you to CE 903. Although Specter didn't drill a
hole in the stand-in's body and drive the rod through it, had he done so,
the entry would be in the upper back, not in the neck. There's a string on
the wall above his hand that shows an angle of about 18 degrees -- that's
the approximate angle measured by a surveyor during the re-enactment and
the one the WC used for its SBT. If the rod is moved up to the neck, the
bullet will exit well above the exit wound under JFK's Adam's apple.

"Or take a look at this photo of JFK:

http://www.jfklancer.com/photos/sbt/hsca.jpg

"Try drawing a line of c. 18 degrees backward from the knot in JFK's
tie. Where does it come out? Upper back, right? The claim that Ford's
change "strengthens" the WC's SBT is simply not true. If I haven't made my
point by now, I give up."

Come on, David, CE 903 proves that the SBT is quite a stretch. I mean,
do you think it's just a coincidence that no photo of the chalk mark
on the stand-in's back was placed into evidence?
