LINKS TO SOME SELDOM-HEARD AUDIO RECORDINGS MADE BY PRESIDENT JOHN F.
KENNEDY:
==========================================================
On November 4, 1963, less than three weeks before his own death, JFK
dictated a memoir entry, pertaining to the recent assassination of
Vietnam's President Diem. The voices of both of Kennedy's two young
children (John-John and Caroline) can also be heard during this
recording:

JFK talks on the phone with the British Prime Minister during the
tense last days of the Cuban Missile Crisis (October 26, 1962):

One year and one day before he died, John Kennedy was involved in the
following spirited conversation with officials of NASA concerning the
task of landing a man safely on the moon. As with all of these
recordings, this is fascinating stuff here:

3-part audio from early October 1963 with President Kennedy and high-
ranking members of his staff. The topic -- Withdrawing troops from
Vietnam:

Kennedy talks on the phone with his doctor (George Burkley), with Jack
asking Burkley to "send up a little extra medication". This is from
March of 1963:

This one isn't a Kennedy call, but it's very interesting nonetheless
-- a March 12, 1964, conversation between JFK's successor (Lyndon
Johnson) and FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. This short phone call
concerns a rather odd subject -- an FBI background check that Hoover
had just completed on Hollywood actress Janet Leigh (of "Psycho"
fame):

Excellent DVP a five star on those audio recordings . Tremendous , I'd not
heard those before .
I'd like to ask you a question regarding your opinion on JFK's Plan on
withdrawing or not withdrawing from Vietnam .
Taking into account as you answer that JFK's platform when running for
office was criticism of the Eisenhower administrations failure to stop the
communist take over of China .
Do you see it as a reasonable option , to be had and laid upon the table ,
for JFK to withdraw all troops by 1965 ?
Just curious .
tl
It was certainly an "option" I suppose, yes. But as of Kennedy's death in
November '63, I don't think JFK had any intention of withdrawing "all"
U.S. personnel (troops) from Vietnam by 1965.
JFK's CBS-TV interview in early September 1963 gives a good general
overview of Kennedy's opinions and thoughts regarding the Vietnam
situation (as it existed as of that '63 date, of course)....and per that
interview with Walter Cronkite, in my opinion it's just plain silly to
assert (as some people seem to want to do) that Kennedy was bent on
withdrawing all forces (or "advisers" as JFK called them) from Vietnam.
I think the following direct quote from John F. Kennedy sums up his
administration's late-1963 posture regarding Vietnam as succinctly and
accurately as possible. Do some theorists think Kennedy is lying his ass
off here? Apparently many people think he's doing just that:
"I don't agree with those who say we should withdraw [from Vietnam].
That would be a great mistake...a great mistake." -- President Kennedy;
Via CBS Interview; September 1963
I think you are overstating this. And most people had blamed Truman, not
Eisenhower. China was already lost by the time Eisenhower was sworn in.
What you may be trying to remember is the famous bomber gap charge that
Kennedy tried to use against the Republicans. Kennedy was not running
against Eisenhower. He was running against Nixon, who was Eisenhower's
Vice-President.
Interesting how all the WC defenders are hawks and love to defame the
memory of President Kennedy by calling him the worst thing they can
think of, a hawk like them.
A very odd statement (even for Tony M.). And an untrue statement too.
I merely was quoting President Kennedy's exact words from September 1963.
Somehow, per Tony, this equals a desire on my part "to defame the memory
of President Kennedy".
A curious leap of logic indeed.
Even a fifth grader would see how this statement makes no sense. If the
"WC defenders" are hawks then them calling someone else a hawk is not
defamation. They don't think "hawk" is the worst thing. If they did,
they wouldn't be hawks. To a hawk, hawk is a good thing.
Are you really Tony Marsh, or are you a parody somebody is putting on to
make Tony look bad?
That would explain a lot. I does seem that the person posting as "Anthony
Marsh" is going to a lot of effort to make Tony appear too silly to listen
to. Perhaps it is a plot.
Michael
IMO JFK was very hawkish on Vietnam , I know as a fact his favorite
missile was the HAWK * :

but I'm not too sure about what his favorite bird was ?
Hmmmm.......? Will have to think about that one for
awhile ......started with
a H and ended with a k as I remember ..........musing .......

Yes, Anthony has world class ability to make these giant leaps. One
of the best.

It was the “missile gap” that JFK ran with (not tried) and it served
him well. The American people believed it. Without it perhaps the
very close election would have gone to Nixon.
Ike knew that this gap didn’t exist from intelligence gained by the
U-2 flights. However, to disclose this fact would have revealed the
existence of the U-2. Obviously Ike didn’t reveal this knowledge to
Nixon because Nixon would probably have sacrificed national security
to get elected.
Bill Clarke
As I said before and you illustrate for all, the WC defenders are
right-wingers who seek to defame the memory of President Kennedy by
calling him a hawk.
Even a college graduate would understand the comment. It is called self
loathing. Like Larry Craig running on family values and denouncing
homosexuals.
> Are you really Tony Marsh, or are you a parody somebody is putting on to
> make Tony look bad?
>
You look bad for not understanding my message.
Funny how you take things out of context and don't quote when JFK said
to CBS that in the final analysis it was the South Vietnamese people's
war to win or loose, or his last press conference when he said the goal
was to bring Americans home.
> Somehow, per Tony, this equals a desire on my part "to defame the memory
> of President Kennedy".
>
You are a perfect example of what I was talking about.
Nope. You are assuming all "hawks" must be self-loathing. There is no
reason for that, and it's obviously absurd. To most people anyway.
>
>> Are you really Tony Marsh, or are you a parody somebody is putting on to
>> make Tony look bad?
>>
>
> You look bad for not understanding my message.
Oh, I understand it. But it's still silly.
More silliness.
Both Posner and Bugliosi are left-wingers. To name two.
Don't let the facts get in the way of your cliches Tony.
Michael
Well, I stand corrected. I was not aware of the fact that they are
posting here. What aliases are they using?
BTW, somewhere I have the old CompuServe messages and Posner did in fact
post there and I told him that he was a sloppy researcher.
> Michael
Not all hawks call Kennedy a hawk. Most call him a Commie.
Where was any reference to people that posted here? You said, "the WC
defenders".
Typical Marsh ploy, when shown to be wrong pretend something else was
being said. You know, every single person reading the post sees what you
did. It doesn't fool anyone. It just perpetuates your reputation.
Michael
YOU made the reference to posters here, by bringing up Posner and Bugliosi.
