Sad news for sure, but thanks for sharing/posting it.
What I particularly remember about Russ was his passion for trying to "get it
right" re. this case.
Unlike most here, he seriously considered my theory that Humes was correct about
the low head shot entry and decided to check out my claims in a way that
surprised me, but in a way I appreciated.
He drew a line representing the trajectory of the head shot bullet fired from
the SN to where he thought Humes' entry was on a graphic of JFK's skull (his
graphic was based on the lateral X-ray).
He concluded that if the bullet hit near the EOP, beause of the curvature of
JFK's skull at that point, it would have deflected downwards.....instead of
upwards as I had theorized.
I was taken aback by his thoroughness as he checked out my claims. That said,
again, I appreciated what he did as an indication he took them [my claims]
seriously.
I responded by saying he had placed the entry site too low, but he was
unconvinced...and I respected his position.
In the end, in a refreshingly civil manner, we just agreed to disagree on the
matter.
His compilation of witnesses along with where their testimonies could be found
in the record was, and still is, a significant benefit, IMO, for JFK
researchers.
Sad news indeed and it should remind all of us that we cannot take an extended
life span for granted, no matter how healthy we think we are....some serious
life-threatening ailments/diseases/sicknesses can easily go under the radar.
