I am in pursuit of the return of the original Lee Harvey Oswald TOmbstone
to Texas. I and my stepsister inherited it when our parents bought the
house Marguerite Oswald live in. It was discovered under the house in a
crawl space, was stored at relative's house for safekeeping and when the
relative died, his wife stole it and sold it to a grab-bag museum in
Roscoe Illinois.

A lawsuit is underway, and a facebook page has been set up for anyone to
follow the progression of it and learn the history of this entire story.
IT is "returningthetombstonetotexas" by name. Go to it and like it if you
want to stay abreast of this messy, but true, drama.

I have the paperback copy of A MOTHER IN HISTORY, written by Jean Stafford
in 1966 (portions of it were published in McCall's Magazine in 1965).
The cover is a photo of Marguerite Oswald standing next to LHO's
gravestone, which is described by the author on page 104. How did the
gravestone end up in Marguerite's home?

I am getting this partly from Barb J, who told me two days ago that the
headstone was indeed stolen from the cemetery, though I don't remember
what year she told me this happened, and it was discovered later in
someone's house, though I don't think she said whose house. I also
remember Ken Holmes telling us the original headstone had been stolen when
he took us on a tour of assassination-related locations in June of 2003,
including that cemetery and also Tippit's grave in another cemetery. I
don't remember whether or not he mentioned that it had surfaced later.
The headstone we saw was, of course, the newer one. That was a great
tour, btw. He took us to the old city jail and showed us the room where
Fritz interrogated Oswald, the hallway to the cell where he was kept, and
the garage where he was killed. He also took us to the Oak Cliff area
where we met Helen Markham's husband; she had died only a couple of years
earlier, I think.

I'm going to try to get Barb's thoughts on the first article in this
thread, and I'll share them here if she gives me permission.
