A friend of mine knowing my interest in JFK and his assassination gave me
as a gift a DVD of a movie titled "Executive Action" starring the great
Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, and Will Geer (better known as Grandpa on the
old TV show The Waltons). I did a google search on "Executive Action" and
found out it was the first movie to dramatize who, why, and how JFK was
killed. I noticed in the credits that the late author Dalton Trumbo did
the screenplay based on research done by Mark Lane.
Any comments on the veracity of the movie?

P.S.: I realize "Executive Action" production quality makes it appear
better suited as a made-for-TV movie perhaps by the old TV production
company Quinn Martin.

A fictionalized version of a real life event can be entertaining. Gone
With the Wind didn't have to be historically accurate to become one of
the best movies ever made. Executive Action isn't going to be on
anyone's list of great movies but it's worth spending an evening to
watch. Just don't take it too seriously.

As if this wasn't bad enough prior to JFK , and prior to TMWKK , the movie
'Exective Action' followed closely Mark Lanes attempt to replace a man
smoking a cigarette behind a picket fence on a grassy knoll , into a
sinister plot to over throw the Government of the United States ,
suggestive of using the most 'lurid' deductive skills ever seen if not
surpassed by any Sherlock Holmes film peoduced .

Theorists' Mark Lane and Donald Freed to help make the case of a
"Grand Conspiracy" by intelligence agencies against the Peoples

I suspect that denounceations from many quarters might cast suspicions
upon what some have labeled as a 'Abnormal Jew' , this might not be the
case as he explains himself in this interview with William F. Buckley Jr.

As in the video above when asked why he wasn't on the 'Mysterious Death
List' for "Changing History" ? He replied "Lets hope it doesn't come to
that" :-) It never did especially when people like him controlled who was
put on the list(s).
When I met him at the Unitarian Church in Anaheim Calif. and broched these
questions he was not anymore forthcoming in his answers , avoided the key
issues faster than 'Tomnln runs the Marathon' , and I found his views on
major subjects of what I considered important and which we had a common
shared interest very 'Sordid' to say the least .

Typical Red Baiting. FYI Trumbo was not the first or only to suggest the
MIC motive. And it does not take a Communist to warn about the MIC unless

Well, I can't top your comment that the screenplay was based on the
research done by Mark Lane. Lane didn't do research. He just made up
stuff. That said, it wasn't a bad movie as best I can recall. But it
was Fiction.

OK, what was the truth? You claimed that you have studied the
assassination for decades, but you have yet to offer any coherent theory
of what happened. Instead, you seem to grab onto any theory that has
floated by, no matter how contradictory they are to each other.
So lay it down in black and white in this forum:
Did Oswald fire shots from the sixth floor of the TSBD? What rifle was
used? How many total shots were fired in Dealey Plaza? Were there other
gunmen? How many and where? A total of how many shots struck Kennedy and
Connally? From which direction? Did Oswald shoot Tippit? If there was a
conspiracy, who was behind it?
These are basic questions, questions that you never bother to answer. When
you were asked during the radio debate with John McAdams whether any shots
were fired from the sixth floor, you said with a dismissive tone, "I don't
know" as if trying to get to the truth of what actually happened was the
least of your concerns.

Warren Commission; i.e., in establishing what did *not* happen. Do you

decades of study gotten you anywhere toward the truth of what

Contrary to what you say, theories are proved by evidence. The
evidence begets the theory. One does not start with a theory, and then
look for evidence to support it. One examines all the evidence, and
from the evidence, develops a theory. You say you have studied the
evidence for decades, but you have been unable to develop any theory
from the evidence. You've long ago reached a dead end.

It took the Warren Commision about 9 months to gather the information
contained in the 26 volumes, sort it out, and come up with a logical
conclusion. Tom Rossley has owned a set of the 26 volumes for decades
and had the same information available to him that Warren Commision
did but he still can't figure it out.

Dalton Trumbo was a great artist and the movie is representative of
some well known theories. However, it is just a movie not a
documentary. It is meant for intertainment and it does that well. LNs
are hilarious about movies like this and JFK that they expect to be
100% accurate. Movies about Buffalo Bill and Wyatt Earp were not
accurate either. They were never meant to be. One of the worst was
Henry Fonda as Wyatt Earp in "My Darling Clementine." That was a great
John Ford western. They are movies, gentleman and ladies, movies.

Notice how he doesn't mention that Lane saved Ryan's life during the

Executive Action went far beyond artistic license just like Stone's JFK.
Actually, Tom, I think you also exceed the boundaries of reality on a
regular basis. Is that how you defend your misreading of
evidence/testimony? And is that your excuse for claiming that you're a
confidant of Marina Oswald (talked to her just a couple of weeks ago, you
say)? We need an injection of reality in the JFK sassn. debate, not more
artistic license.

The 9 month cycle was not based on a natural gestation cycle. It was
dictated by politics, ordered by LBJ who wanted this all wrapped up BEFORE
the election lest anything be hanging over his head and become a campaign
issue. "Hey, hey LBJ, what are you hiding still today?" In April 1964 the
Warren Commission was preparing to write its report and conclude three
shots, three hits. Then Specter realized there was a problem.
BTW, just owning the 26 volumes is nowhere close to having all the
information the WC had. They did not publish everything in the 26 volumes.
