Strange how Derek wants so badly for folks to ignore me. Have I ever
suggested that Derek's views should be ignored? Why, no, not at all. In
fact, I have asked Derek DOZENS of times to elaborate upon his views, even
to debate me on the issues he seems to find important. Yet he has never
taken me up on such offers, and has steadfastly refused to answer any of
the questions I've posted for him.

Well, anyway, let's see who Derek turns to when he wants the "REAL damn
story" on Garrison. There's Bill Davy, of course, whose book I review at:

http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/davy.htm

Derek has never responded in any way to this review. I take it he has
nothing to say about the matter.

Then Derek cites the two endorsement quotes from Bill Davy's book jacket.
And who are these folks whose opinions Derek trusts? Bill Turner, of
course, is familiar to most of us. He worked alongside Garrison for a bit.
Turner has done some good investigative work in his time; it's a shame he
uncritically repeats many of Garrison's assertions as fact in his writing.
Since Turner was a personal friend of Garrison's, I'm surprised Derek
would cite his opinion on Davy's book.

Then there's Joan Mellen, who was also a personal friend of Garrison's,
and recently wrote a sadly misinformed review of Patricia Lambert's *False
Witness* for the Baltimore Sun. Mellen was also once married to someone
named Ralph Schoenman, though I haven't been able to confirm whether or
not this was THE Ralph Schoenman, friend and advisor to Jim Garrison in
the late 1960s. Oddly, Bill Davy and Jim DiEugenio, in their own *Probe*
review of *False Witness,* cite the Baltimore Sun review to put Lambert in
her place, without ever informing *Probe* readers that Joan Mellen, a
personal friend of Jim Garrison's, was the author. Davy doesn't mind
quoting such a questionable source on his jacket copy, and Derek Larsson
has no qualms about using Mellen's opinion either. The implication would
seem to be that no one outside Garrison's circle of friends would endorse
Davy's book.

Go figure.
