I just checked the calendar at the library, and it isn't April 1
today, so what gives? - Peter R. Whitmey
Just when you think it can't get any nuttier. Thank God it's a private
college and my tax dollars are being spent to support this yo-yo. Can you
imagine Mom and Pop are spending their hard earned money to send their
kids to Mount Union College to be educated by Professor Bozo.
I guess it's just a coincidence JFK's head exploded just as shots were
being fired at him and shortly after a bullet went through his back and
out his throat. It would be easy to dismiss this as a hoax if I hadn't
seen so many other nutty theories over the years.
HOAX!
In the offices of THE ONION, it's always April 1.
That's a bigger laugh than THE ONION'S stuff itself. And pert-near as
funny as the multi-gun/one-patsy plot believed in by Jimbo Garrison,
et al. ~wink~
Indeed, a bullet did go into JFK's back, but six inches down from his
collar, according to eyewitnesses (such as a Secret Service man who wrote
a description of what he saw that very day), which is consistent with
drawings made at Parkland Hospital, as well as being consistent with a
hole in JFK's jacket and shirt. The hole in JFK's throat was, according
to the doctors and nurses who tried to save at Parkland, clearly an
entrance wound, as it was neat and the size of the end of a pencil. BTW,
the back of JFK's head was badly damaged, strongly suggesting that a
bullet exited from the rear (as Dan Rather reported from Dallas, as shown
on the documentary "The JFK Assassination: A Revisionist History" (shown
in Canada on two occasions on CBC- Newsworld's "Passionate Eye" back in
the late 1990s, and now available for purchase from MPI).
I personally believe two shots hit JFK's head almost simultaneously, one
from the rear and one from the knoll.

Geez. The Onion is a satirical paper, like Mad Magazine without the
cartoons. Besides the print and web formats the Onion produces the
popular podcast "The Onion Radio News." Their objective is comedy --
using items pulled from the news.
IOW, in case you still don't understand, they're not serious!!
The Zapruder film clearly shows where the blow out wound was. It was
along the entire right side of his head. We can see the back of his
head following the head shot and there is no evidence of damage in
that area.
He said 4 inches, not 6.
>which is consistent with

What "drawings made at Parkland Hospital"? No one at Parkland even
reported seeing the back wound, let alone drawing it.
>as well as being consistent with a

The suit and shirt were bunched upward at the time of the shots. The
Croft #3 photograph clearly shows this.

Dr. Jenkins didn't think so, he said it was an exit wound. And Dr.
Carrico said the wound was 6-8mm.

I call the website a parody. They are making fun of the HSCA explanation
of the head shot. Both cases have soft tissues of the head containing an
enormous pressure until bones of the skull shatter. Clearly this behavior
is contrary to failure by the weakest link.
Herbert
Yikes! I can think of a couple people in AA
and especially in AC who may take "the ball
and run" with this one..
MR ;~D
How are you guys able to distinguish between the hoaxes and the real
CT theories?
I guess I've been away from this discussion for too long.

I think they're making fun of people like you, Herbert.
This particular one presented in this thread is neither one (really). It's
a parody. That's what "THE ONION" does. All parodies, all the time. And
they've skewered the conspiracy folks pretty good too.
This is another one of their goodies......

Your cheap shot leaves readers with the impression that defending the
HSCA explanation of the fatal shot is above your head.
Herbert
You are correct in regard to the medical drawings showing the back wound.
In my haste to express my point of view, I should have stated that the
drawings, of course, were done at Bethesda, not Parkland.
I have one question for you: Why would Oswald want to kill JFK, knowing
that LBJ would now be in charge, given LHO's hostile feelings towards
Johnson's close friend, Gov. Connally (who was LBJ's campaign manager in
1960)? Both Johnson and Connally were also closely associated with
banker/lawyer Fred Korth, who replaced Connally as Secretary of the Navy
in early 1962 (although he was forced to resign in '63 due to conflicting
interests). As you probably recall, Korth, ironically, had represented
Edward Ekdahl in 1948 (not Marguerite Oswald, as some books state), Lee's
stepfather when he was a young boy, whom Lee had become closely attached
to (not surprisingly, given his real father had died before he was born).
I can't imagine Oswald would want to help LBJ achieve his lifelong dream,
especially given the Bobby Baker case that had become headline news
leading up to Nov. 22 (including a cover story on Nov. 1 in LIFE and a
follow-up report on Nov. 22).
- Peter R. Whitmey
Style.
I wasn't trying to cheap shot anyone, Herbert. The satirical piece clearly
skewers the non-stop proliferation of continuing 'theories' that buffs
bring forward. It isn't making fun of the HSCA explanation.
Is the 'theory' in The Onion article really that much more wacky than semi
respectable theories (at least in CT circles) that claim JFK was frozen
for the knoll kill shot by a poison dart firing umbrella or that Hickey
killed JFK or that JFK's body was switched and had surgery performed on it
prior to the autopsy? How about faking the Zapruder film? Researcher David
Healy (aka affects) not only holds that the Zapruder film was faked, he
also believes Zapruder himself was a fake. That's right, folks...Abe
Zapruder was impersonated, and was apparently too afraid to speak up about
it lest he appear on the infamous 'mysterious deaths' list.
The Onion comedy bit makes as much sense as the above stuff I listed.
It is just one in a long stream of CIA disinformation. It relies on
inventing ridiculous strawman arguments.

So what? You can invent kooks or find kooks or just make up ridiculous
theories which no one has ever proposed. The LNers have their share of
kooks.
> The Onion comedy bit makes as much sense as the above stuff I listed.
It is not comedy. It is CIA propaganda.

And of course, the conspiracists will accept the testimony of a
convenient witness any day in preference to actual photos.
.John
I suggest you study the HSCA explanation of the head explosion.
Mr. MATHEWS. Thank you. Now, Mr. Sturdivan, according to your
testimony, the President was not shot with an exploding bullet. What
scientific reasons do
you have for the fact that his skull exploded?
Mr. STURDIVAN. As we saw in the gelatin blocks, the tremendous
radial velocity that is imparted to the tissue, soft tissue, as the
bullet goes through, probably in this case having massively been
deformed by impact on the skull. The drag force is very high. The
radial velocity is high, exerting tremendous pressure on the inside
of the skull. And this literally lifts the skull up, fractures it and
allows some of the soft material to move between the cracks.
So there you have the self proclaimed expert telling us that neither
the soft tissues of the brain nor the sinus cavities decreased volume
by a mere hundredth of 1 percent and relieved pressure in the cranial
fluid. Instead, Larry outdoes the buffs and asserts that the head
failed at its strongest link.
Herbert
Sturdivan only testified that way because he had had no experience with
explosive bullets. In fact almost all of the HSCA experts had never heard
of such a thing.
Tell the nice people exactly how many inches down from the top of the
shirt collar the entrance hole is.
