The esteemed Canadian journalist, Peter Worthington, died on May 13 in
Toronto. Here is an excellent farewell from his son-in-law, David Frum
(the former George W. Bush speechwriter, whose late mother, Barbara Frum,
was one of Canada's finest interviewers):

Oops! He witnessed the death of Oswald. He was standing against the wall near the car on the left side of the NBC footage. Btw, it looks to me like Captain Fritz made sure he got out of the way, so Ruby could get a good shot at Oswald.
Why didn't they have Oswald wear a bullet-proof vest, for God's sake, given the warning(s) they received, and the realization that someone would try to kill LHO if they got the chance. - prwhitmey

Bullet-proof vest? In 1963? Isn't that an anachronism?
Why did they use a portable force field from Dune Industries?

I checked at Wikipedia and there were bullet-proof vests at that time,
although not very effective, but undoubtedly better than nothing. -

Why didn't they just get Benny Holmes to stand in the way?

He would've been WIDE enough to block any shot!
