Well, I like my cat (and believe me, very few people do) just because
he's so stupid (really, "not that clever" just doesn't cut it when
describing the brainpower of my cat) antisocial, fussy and mingy-looking
that he makes me feel superior.

I feel absolutely the same way you do BRO! When I was dating and a girl
would say she and her cat were just alike, that was the end of that
relationship.
I can't agree with you more except I do think they are cut and pretty
animals, but their personalities cause them to be ugly creatures. So if
you take slack for you opinion, I'll take it with you buddy!

They wake you up in the morning as efficiently as any alarm clock (and

or is it "The artist formally known as the one with a lot of hair

They make noises in the walls when we want to sleep, they think we put
food in the kitchen just for them and so help themselves to anything
that isn't locked inside metal boxes or the fridge, they _ate_ my
passport (and peed on the "leftovers"!), etc etc etc (I've even found
them in my bed! when I was in it!!!). After struggling with poison,
traps (the ones that kill as well as the ones that just cage the mice),
even ultrasound (completely useless btw), we found ourselves with the
choice "do we want mice or do we want a cat?" (it was not a difficult
choice). We got a cat and the mouse problem went away. :)

Yep. Get a cat. It's the only thing worked when I was in a place
with mice around. In city streets, if you can't look after a
cat of your own, just encourage one of the neighbourhood cats
to wander in and take up part-time residence....

I would bet money that your opinion of having a pet is in the minority
and there is nothing wrong with that. If it makes you happy then great.
But I just can't see a pet demanding attention when they want it.
If I wanted to fill your description of a pet, I'd rather have a child
instead of a cat. *S* There is just no way I will let my life get ran by
a cat and most cat owners I know, are not in charge of their homes.

Besides a dog will go running with you and play out on the river and
woods with you. They will just be there for you when you need them most.
Psychiatrists say that a dog is the best thearpy for a manic depresent.
Dogs help blind people live a more normal live. But that cat CAN catch
mice...LOL...so do some mouse traps, and they don't cop attitudes.
I hope you know I'm just playing around here, I think all animals have a
great purpose in life.
