I know that this was not your intention but i could not resist to

Not much, but occasionally a German (or Gerwoman :-)) comes in here,

As i noticed, it happens more often with Germans than with, for example,

Neither we do in Germany normally but it becomes more important from
year to year. This year we've had a lot of Halloween-Parties,
Halloween-TV-Program and such things. Maybe the German tendency to
Halloween will also reach the Holländer. :)

No, thats totally wrong. T-Online never established itself as a
replacement for the internet. It's just a secure solution for
Onlinebanking and today a Gateway in to the Internet. Maybe you
remember the Mailbox times? This for many people was the entrance to
the internet in Germany

Neither here. This seems to be entirely an U.S. thing. What is it
actually in aid of (officially that is, inofficially it seems to be
just a costume party)?

Huh? You needing an once-a-year occasion to dress up?

Join an Life-Action Roleplaying group to do it every few weeks. In
Denmark that should not be difficult to find, sandwiched between
Germany and Sweden (the 2 most LARP-heavy countries here in Europe).

If you can't find anything, simply tell me where you are and I will
try to find via our insiders where the nearest group around you is.

Also you could try Usenet:
de.rec.spiele.rpg.live (if you read german)
alt.games.rpg.live-action.high-fantasy (also looks worth looking into)

- Tauran, an Elf in the califat of Tikon (www.tikon.ch, is in german)

Hmm, it's weird as in Finland the amount of net connections per capita
is among the largest in the world. (as is the frequency of mobile
phones)

Only problem; our population is so small, that when the percents are
translated into amounts, the numbers are quite small. :-)

But still , in general inhabitants of "smaller" countries with a not near so
dominant first language ..( there are a lot of of germans or germans speaking
people in the world ) are better at foreign languages because they can't always
rely on their own language. The more widespread the native language is , the
less multilinguals exits in that country.
Also television have some of the credit/blame in this .. countries that sync the
voices (i hate that) on their tvstations have fewer multilinguals.

Germany have a good educational system however so that makes up for it , but
they are still not as good at foreign languages as scandinavians for example but
they are still somewhat better than the americans and the french (especially the
french).

I wasn't talking about T-Online as an internet replacement, but as a
network.
The first time i've heared about T-online was when i still read 64'er,
somewhere in 1989 or 1990, that was way before internet became popular.

It's easy, we already have a Santa Claus-like holiday about 3 weeks before
Christmas, we call it Sinterklaas.
Sinterklaas is not fat, has a beard and wears red bisshop attire.
He looks a bit like this:

This holiday is to celebrate the birthday of the bisshop of Mira, who
secretly gave golden apples to 3 sisters to prevent that they'd became
prostitutes out of poverty.

>Guess we're totally offtopic now. :)

I don't think so, i'm giving you an ASCII-art course for beginners :-))

In Forté Agent, i use Arial as the proportional font, i can easily switch
between the two.

Okay, that's a square alright (stolen or not)!
Now make a box out of that square.
You can enlarge the box to compensate for the perspective.

No, they made rubber boots. Still do, I think, though it's a separate
company these days. I just recently bought a new Nokia inner tube for
my bicycle.

Up to about a decade ago, back when specialization wasn't the buzzword
of the day yet, they had divisions making all sorts of things from
televisions to tyres. A few weeks ago I spotted an old rusty toilet
paper dispenser with the Nokia logo on it. I though it could be fun to
borrow a Nokia 9000 communicator, place it on top of the dispenser and
take a photo of them together. Alas, I had neither a Nokia 9000 nor a
camera available.

I tried drawing their logo as ObAscii, but the letters are harder than
they look to get right. Besides, it's not really that interesting.

That would make cool pic. I don't see that much Nokia stuff. Philips
is my country's home brand in electronic appliance'. They used to make

*LOL* :D

I can just imagine the world how it would have been if all companies sticked to what they did.

Apple would still be working out of their garage .. making small inventions and running chores.
Microsoft would still be living with their parents .. IRL i think bill bought a house/mansion
for bill senior.
and the Halflife's programmers would still be stuck delivering pizza - ok only one of them did
IRL but it's still amesing to see someone jump from pizza delivery boy to bestselling game
programmer, I remember reading wedges' website on quake-c programming back then .. even did
some email correspondence..
Is 1996 really that long ago ? .. makes me stop and wonder ..

Dont feel bad about it ...
Think of the worst possible situation you could encounter by not having the Nokia 9000 and then
think of the worst possible situation you could encounter by not having toiletpaper..

.. now in reflection of this .. which is more important ??
