I'm glad to know that
Losing sight of what made you
The brightest part of my life
Turned out to be a complication involving
Our eye doctor: He gave me the wrong prescription glasses.

Anyway, to know all is ok
And that your love still lights the way
Brings a warmth to my heart like
The coming of a new day.
It also makes me wonder if the
Batteries in our emergency flashlight have started
Leaking battery acid yet.

It's been over a year since I've checked.

Dynamite poem, Matt... makes me wonder how a couple of my favorite
chicks are doing, myself. Think I'll go out strolling tonight to Old
SoHo.

Gary, are you here to post poetry or just bust balls?

I guess that's a stupid question considering you do
very little of the former and excel in the latter.

Everybody knows your obsession with Dockery.
The cat's out of the bag. However, why don't you
try putting your loving feelings to poetry?
Tell us how much Dockery means to you in
a poem. After all, this is a poetry workshop
by your own admission. Do ya think that poetry
should probably be included at some point?

Gary sure is slobbering behind my every post this morning, true that.
But Gary Gamble writing a new poem?

That seems impossible at this time... heh.

Yet, it just so happens that this is a "poetry workshop"
by his own admission. So, what kind of person comes
to a laundry mat with a radio that needs service?
The same type of person that comes to a poetry
workshop with no poetry and a bunch of hot crap.

I think Pete The Dog is still wandering around writers
block lost and confused. And, all the whistling in
the world doesn't seem to attract his attention.
Come to think of it, I think he's deaf, dumb and blind.
Or, it could just mean he needs a good pet psychiatrist.

I like how your poem conveys a subtle doubt about the quality and stability
of a meaningful relationship. The images you used are quite inventive.

As for a detailed critique, some others here are more qualified.

Exactly what I found so pleasing about it, and something I found
relating to real life circumstances of my own, as well.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

You actually hit it right on the spot:
A satirical piece where two of the most
overused cliches in literary history are
used to mock superficial love. Consequently,
it's a parody on amateur poets and
lyricists as well.

That was my intention. And, since I'm
quite the amateur myself, it shouldn't
have been too hard to convey.

What, do you miss using your old *confused, as usual* epithet on her?

If you left, she'd probably come back.

Really? Even though all she did was nag at you?

And, haven't you called her a liar to her face on more
than one occasion?

When will you ever get enough abuse, Will?

Yes, Karla was often and easily confused, but I did enjoy her poems
from time-to-time.

Being in love is like one cliche after another, but it sure feels

While Karla posted quite a bit of poetry here in the past year-and-a-
half, not that much of it was new. Most of it was revised or simply
recycled from her 20th century ouevre. And no one needs Karla here to
avoid missing that; all one needs is Google, to go back and search the
RAP and AAPC archives.

Desperately so.

you're his favorite sniff.
