A fading family picture sits
facing the wall.
Near the black dorm door is a cracked
coffee stained table
where the mail
that never comes from home
is placed.
Tears that glide down cheeks
so rarely kissed
fall on unused
homeward stationery.
Receipts from expenses paid
fly flagged upon the wall,
portraits of cold cash caring.

And here...
here is the space in my heart
where love from home is never placed.
