Okay, so a Grand Opening is like when you have commercials advertising
your "GRAND OPENING" with all sorts of fanfare, and balloons, and
those spotlights like they have at Hollywood premieres and used car
sales and whatnot. It's like shouting, "HEY, WE'RE OPEN! COME ON IN!"
A soft opening basically the same thing. Open is open and an opening
is an opening, only a soft opening is more like whispering "Psst. Hey,
you want to see something neat?" instead of all that shouting. That's
what this weekend is, a soft opening for Hieronymous House. It's
Memorial Day weekend, and I'm remembering a friend of mine for whom I
have a soft spot. So I'll use my soft opening to memorialize a fellow
Marine Corps veteran who passed of cancer last year named Ken
Broadbent. Semper fi, Ken. This one's is for you.
