Hi Everyone

I recently noticed in a bookstore several large, nicely bound books on
Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Aikido, and Karate, and I'm curious to know if
there is a similar reliable instructional textbook on Bujinkan Budo
Taijutsu. I'd be looking for something for beginners, with large,
clear pictures along the lines of the recent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
textbook that has come out. If a book such as this does not exist,
can anyone tell me if anyone has plans to come out with a book like
this anytime soon?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from everybody.

IMO, the best Bujinkan technique books are "Stick Fighting" and "Knife
and Pistol Fighting" by Soke, Hayes' 5-vol series, "Mystic Arts of the
Ninja" and "Ninjutsu: Art of the Invisible Warrior", both by Hayes.
Not everything Hayes writes is accurate, though. Most of the Bujinkan
books in English were written when the authors were somewhat new to
the art, aside from Soke, of course. Videos are easier to learn from
and easier to produce, which is probably why there are a lot of
Bujinkan videos but few books. I've not seen a single technique book
published since Hayes wrote "Ninja Vol. 5."

Get hold of a copy of the 'Tenchijin Ryaku no Maki' - the book of heaven
earth and man.

This goes through the basics you should know from rolling, leaping,
punching, blocking, kamae, Sanshin, Kihon Happo, throws, locks, strangles,
escapes, punch and kick destroying, and a load of the techniques from
several of the schools.

It is a good text to get to know all of the basics - although in the copies
I have seen there are very few pictures, except of kamae and some of the
sixteen striking treasures.

I was listing some of the in print written in English. I have the
photocopy of Togakure Ryu Ninpo Tajutsu that the ABD sells. Is this
what you are writing about?
