I am posting this for Mike Tari as he does not have an ISP.
=============== SEMINAR ANNOUNCEMENT =================
Bill Atkins will be conducting a two day seminar in Yakima, Wa, USA on
March 28 & 29th, 1997. This seminar is part of an ongoing series which
are being held in Yakima.
Past seminars have covered much of the fundamental waza contained
within TENCHIJIN RYAKU NO MAKI, with the intention of laying a
foundation for upcoming seminars. This seminar will be the second (in the
series) to focus on particular ryuha which form the basis of the Bujinkan
Budo Taijutsu tradition. Kata from the Kukishinden Ryu, Shinden Fudo
Ryu and Takagi Yoshin Ryu Ryu will be used to explore and expand upon
various Taijutsu principles.
Seminars 7& 8
These seminars continue on from Seminar 5 & 6 (August 1996), which
focused on the key principles and techniques of Koto Ryu Kopoojutsu and
Gyokko Ryu Koshijutsu. There will be some overlapping, to allow for
some review, however these seminars (7 & 8) will be used to present new
principles and techniques.
On both days formal kata and henka will be presented. These will be used
as vehicles to teach appropriate rhythm, timing, angling and distancing to
achieve ones objectives. Stick fighting will also be incorporated into both
days. A Jo is best choice as it is this years weapons training theme in the
Bujinkan. Usual length is 4 feet, with a 1 inch diameter, but can also be
measured from armpit to ground. Bring a hanbo or bo if you do not have jo.
Seminar 7 (Saturday) Dakentaijutsu
The use of impact in all techniques. Disrupting an opponent1s attack.
Power development and methods of impact. Kata from the Kukishinden
Ryu Dakentaijutsu and Shinden Fudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu will be taught.
Seminar 8 (Sunday) Jutaijutsu
The subtle, supple art of fitting in. Control by blending with the opponent
and using the opponents strength. Includes shimewaza and Newaza
(chokes and ground fighting). Kata from the Takagi Yoshin Ryu will be
taught.
Tentative Itinerary
Training will commence at 9AM on both days and conclude at 7PM on the
Saturday/1-2PM on the Sunday (Please note that these times are subject to
change). A buffet dinner is scheduled for the Saturday night, to which all
seminar participants are welcome to attend.
Also, at the last seminar Mike arranged for a number of people to go to a
local swimming pool for a sauna or hot tub (he pre-booked it so it was a
private thing). As this was so popular he is going to make similar
arrangements again for this seminar. It is an additional $5 (US) for this.
You can either include this with your pre-payment or pay Mike when you
arrive at the seminar location.
