The best book I have ever read on the subject of Abstract Expressionism is
"The spirit of Abstract Expressionism" by Elaine de Kooning. It is a
collection of essays she wrote on art and artists, including many
interviews and discussions she had with the artists in their studios, as
well as her thoughts about her own art.
I don'd think she covered Pollock specifically, but there is enough
background material in there to keep you more than satisfied...
