Moore is one of the most beloved sculptors of the 20th century, yet his work
has fallen out of favor with the modern critics: this seeks to reassess Moore's
crucial contribution to art of the last century, examining his early
experiments with primitivism and his later probe into modernist pieces. The
focus on his early works in particular provides Moore enthusiasts with a body
of works and approaches not seen in many other considerations of his works.

Georgia O'Keeffe died in 1986 owning more than half the approximately two
thousand works she had produced during the eighty years she was active as an
artist. Four hundred of those works were oils, charcoals, pastels, pencils, and
watercolors. Additionally there were more than seven hundred sketches in her
personal collection. O'Keeffe's O'Keeffes: The Artist's Collection explores and
showcases the significance of Georgia O'Keeffe's collection of her own work and
comprises seventy-five seminal works reproduced in full color and dating from
around 1910 down through the 1960s. Unique, impressive, O'Keeffe's O'Keeffes is
an essential volume for students of American art history in general, and the
life and work of Georgia O'Keeffe in particular.

These new releases are exceptional additions to any art school library and many
a general collection: each provides a focus not available in competing
publications. Roberta Gordon-Smith's Trompe L'oeil Home (0-8230-5446-2,
$24.95), for example, provides a whole-home focus with over twenty projects
covering every area of the house, with color photos throughout - quite a
difference compared to narrower focuses of simple one-room projects. Walt
Reed's Illustrator In America 1860-2000 (2523-3, $55.00) presents the third
revised edition of this title, providing the history of over a hundred forty
years of illustration up to 2000. Pictures and biographies of outstanding
artists of each decade accompany historical insights in this exceptional
catalog. Paul Scott's Painted Clay (3921-8, $40.00) reveals ceramics from
outside studio pottery projects, considering the visual artists who work with
ceramics from a graphic arts perspective. Color photos pack a display of
ceramics painting choices and a history of evolving applications. All are
exceptional.

informative, wonderfully illustrated introduction and analysis of his
"interior" paintings -- many published her for the first time. Robert
Fitzpatrick is Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and
effectively collaborates with Dorothy Lichtenstein, the late Leo Castelli,
Sidney B. Felsen, and Cassandra Lozano to present an impressive and fully

Two excellent achievements are recommended art library picks. Art Cuba: The New
Generation (0-8109-5733-7, $49.50) by Holly Block provides a fine overview of
the contemporary art scene within Cuba, displaying some of the most notable
works and arts of the 20th century and providing the first major survey to show
the range of art issuing from Cuba. The full-page color illustrations are
excellent. Robin Hamlyn and Michael Phillips' William Blake (5710-8, $75.00)
provides a comprehensive survey of the entirety of Blake's visual output, from
prints and illuminated books to paintings. New research by Blake scholars
accompanies the catalog, which compliments the largest Blake exhibit ever
mounted.
