By Mark, these amazing sculptures from Europe's Parastone Mouseion
collection are very unique, beautifully rendered and constructed of fine
collectible quality resin.
This auction is for a 4 inch tall sculpture of a figure derived from Dali's
"Winged Swan for Bacchanale Ballet", a painting completed in 1939. The
second image at left is of the original work.
His first design for the ballet was Bacchanale (originally named in German
"Venusberg"), for which he also wrote the scenario and designed the
costumes. It was a Metropolitan Opera production, choreographed by Leonide
Massine for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. The ballet was set to the music
of Richard Wagner, whose insane patron, king Ludwig II, was portrayed in the
scenario. Here is the Winged Swan which Dali illustrated at prominent center
of the stage set.
