This painting of the New Mexico White Sands Desert by E. L. Boone is an
original work from the early 1940's. It is signed by the artist, and was
used as a partial payment for dental work. The painting is on a 16X20
canvas, and comes framed. There is a slight scratch on the surface, but
it's almost undetectable. The colors of the sky are far more vivid than the
photograph shows.

White Sands has been owned by the family of Dr. Cleyon Stewart, DDS until
now. Other works by Boone have gone for $2000 or more.

Elmer Boone was born in 1884. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and
came to El Paso in 1925 to recover from tuberculosis. He was a frequent
exhibitor in the Library Park Artists Curb Show outdoor exhibits and other
El Paso Womans' Club shows. While living in El Paso, he established a
studio for commercial art work in the Electric Company building on Stanton
Street, designing the cover of the 1928 Electric Company annual report.
Known for Southestern landscapes and Mexican folk studies, he was chosen by
the Sun Carnival Association to paint a picture of old Fort Bliss at Hart's
Mill to present to the military installation in honor of the Centennial in
1948. One of his exhibits, in 1952, showed the sentimental side of the
Southwest with painings such as "Playful Cowboy" and "Pioneer Honeymoon."
Aslo exhibiting in Montana and other Western and Southwestern states of the
U.S., he was a member of the Far Southwest Artists Association and the El
Paso Artists Association. Paintings by Boone can be found in many private
collections, as well as in the University of Texas El Paso library
collection.

This is a rare opportunity to own a painting by E. L. Boone and would make a
wonderful Christmas gift. I am listing this painting for a friend, so my
ability to answer questions will be limited. I will help you to the best of
my ability.
