I recently purchased a small painting in a thrift store. The painting is of a
desert landscape at dusk, about 12"tallx15"wide. Up close the painting
is VERY ugly. Just globbed on paint, it appears. I only bought it because it
was not a common oil painting.
After bringing the painting home, I noticed on the back that a note said, $1.50
for FRAME only. I found a spot on the wall and set back and saw the most
beautiful desert landscape with a sunset as a pretty as anything I have ever
seen in real life.( Sunsets are one of my favirote things) I was amazed at how
outstandingly beautiful this little painting was
from a short distance. I know nothing about art, but common sense tells me that
whom ever painted this little picture has a very special talent. If the artist
isn't well known, the artist should be. What I can make out of the signature is
a AB Jollap or something similiar. The right side of the A forms the bottom
part of the straight piece of the B and the top of the J curves in toward the B
the next letter I think is an a or an o then 2 (what I think are two small case
L's that extend way down below the other letters, even with the tail of the
small case p on the end. between the L's and the p, I am pretty sure is an
small case a. Also, I purchased the painting in Houston, Texas.
Hope this explanation isn't too confusing, and that someone might recognize
the artist.
Thanks Heaps for any help.
