Can someone please reply? I have heard mixed reports as to whether art
is really selling on the internet. Is anyone having success with a well
promoted, mature art website selling art?
Thanks in advance,
Ken

In article <3682CC06...@swbell.net>,

I have had my art site on the web for over 5 years, and my experience is that
no one is interested in buying original art over the internet. Over the years
I've only had a couple of inquiries and they both wanted to see the art in
person which ended up in no sale because of location problems. I no longer
actively sell my original art work over the internet although I keep it up
for display. Right now I have an affiliation with Art.com, a print and
framing service. People seem to be much more interested in buying art that
way. I think if you wanted to sell your art in print form you would have a
much greater success. Good luck!

hi jonnes
I was interested in your reply that you have had no success selling art
over the internet . My main interest is because I have just set up a site
selling arts crafts and gifts from New Zealand and was looking at putting on
original art works in the New Year.
could you tell me if you did much marketing of your site both online and
offline and if it gave you any response.
Also any other art people who have been selling art over the net I would
love to hear how it is going and your experiences.
Regards and good luck Joan

I am fairly prominent in the midwest, and it serves as a feather in the cap
to have your web site on your business card. On one-to-one meetings, it
comes off as impressive. Dealings with galleries too, it has a bit of
professional ring to it to show you have a site.

Exposure.....and especially its existence as a point of reference for you
to direct people to while you member chat or email digest groups is good.
All in all, exposure. Sales on the other hand.....Hhhhmmmm.....I've been
up and on for two years now, and haven't had a sale through the net yet.
What ever that's worth to you! ...take care....

You may judge for yourself as to whether or not my site is mature art and I
work daily at promoting it. I have had my site for about eight months and I
have sold nothing. I did, however, liscense out a few images for t-shirt
designs.

I've had a lot of luck selling two prints on the Internet.

You might want to post an ad on http://members.aol.com/wlooboy/index.html. It
costs us nothing to advertise there.

Good Luck!
