Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of Ringling School of Art &
Design, located in Sarasota, Fla. I've been accepted there and am thinking
about going next fall. So e-mail me the WORST thing you know about this
school, if you've heard anything! Thanks.

Geoff

Why not ask for the BEST thing people have heard, too?

Goeff,
Why don't you come here to find out what it's all about! It's probably the
best place to attend right now. I'm a 4rth year illustrator. I've had
interviews with Lucas Arts, Speilberg' Dreamworks, Disney Feature
Animation and Imagineering as well a a bunch of others with great
feedback. This place rocks, It's getting some great exposure right now!
Come check out my website at

There you'll find some of the work i've been doing..
Also April 29th is the annual Senior thesis show at the VanWezel Theater
here is Sarasota. If you can, Try to make it. You WILL see why Ringling
turns out some of the best and most sought after illustrators in the
country!

regards,
Rick

Geoff -- You should probably believe all the good you have heard of
Ringling School of Art & Design. I graduated in 1965 & was hired
immediately by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City MO. While at RSA&D, I was
fortunate to apprentise for local Sarasota Post Cover Illlustrator,
Thornton Utz. One of my classmates joined me at Hallmark, went on to
NYC to become Art Director for HBO, and is now Vice President of the
DISCOVERY CHANNEL. His roomate also joined us at Hallmark, also went
to NYC and, in 1990, was the President of the NY Society of
Illustrators. We all three were associates of (now) prominent
illustrator, Brad Holland.

RSA&D is "where it's at!" It is NOW on the cutting edge of computer
graphics. You should not have any reason to regret your selection of
art schools if you are truely serious about a career in commercial
art.
