Reed diffuser - Best carrier oil?

I have a reed diffuser (glass bottle with cane reeds up which the oil
travels to fragrance the air). The oil has run out but I would like
to make my own oil to go into it. I have unscented lamp oil but I'm
assuming its no good as that's specifically designed to be burnt. Can
anyone recommend a best base oil for a reed diffuser in which to add
my essential oil? I've been told I can use olive oil, canola oil or
even baby oil, but that doesn't sound right to me so I'm checking
here.
