What is your opinion?

Is wallpaper "out" and faux finish in?

My white walls are drab and I am looking to paint, wallpaper or faux
them but I am getting opinions that "wallpaper is out".

Opinions please!!

Wallpaper is not out. Wallpaper is available in just about any finish,
texture, and color that you could want -- the trick is knowing where to find
what you want. If there is a faux finish that you are interested in, but
are nervous about painting yourself, there will probably be a wallpaper with
that finish available. One key to wallpapering is to make sure you prep
your walls so that the paper will be easier to remove when the time comes.
Believe me, it will not be wasted time.

If you decide to make the faux finish yourself, take a class, or at very
least get some instructions and make a small sample first -- in a closet or
even on a small piece of board.

Don't worry so much about what is out or in. Think about what you like, and
the mood you are trying to achieve in the room. One wall treatment may be
more appropriate than another in that case.

Good Luck!
