Pet shops use a meedium shade of blue exterior paint on the outside of
the tank. Of course you have let the paint dry before the fish are put
in thee tank. You don't want paint fumes poisoning the water

I like to use black construction paper. It's easy to work with and you can
just use transparent tape to attach it to the tank. I prefer the more
"natural" color substrate, mostly brown.
We paint ours blue. It looks great...
Hi, Use some colored tin foil. A hobby or craft shop should have the
foil. You can crumple it up to create a 3-D effect. It gives depth to the
aquarium.

I am assuming this is spray paint...is it flat or gloss?

I have painted the back of many glass tank black. You first put a skim
coat that covers the whole area, then apply the final coat. You must
put the tank flat so that it does not run.
Another neat trick is to get those printed plastic backgrounds, smear
the tank with a thin layer of vaseline, and laminate the plastic to the
tank. The effect is incredible !

Yeah, what I've decided to do was paint it. I went to Home Depot and
found a rack of oops paint. Mixed but never bought. I think I paid
less than $2 for a quart. I was going to use black but only found a
very dark purple. Well, it looks very cool. Especially behind my
bright orange Tiger Oscar and Tinfoils. It does take patience, the
paint doesn't like to stick in one coat.
