I thought Level Up was just a one off made for TV movie. Today I
learned that it is going to be an actual regular series on Cartoon
Network?

Don't they remember what happened the last time they went with live
action shows? Their ratings tanked.

So why curse us with yet another live action show?

Cheaper to make?

Less financial risk??

As I recall, for reasons known only to the Gods, CN's parent company
has someone in charge of CN who DOESN'T LIKE CARTOONS, and anime in
particular -- thus the death of Toonami, their most popular block of
shows ever, and the move towards live action.

Did you see the horrible pilot? They kept promoting the series during
the pilot movie.

Can't you avoid the curse by simply not watching the show? That *is* an
option, right?

That depends. If I *know* when it airs and it's not opposite anything
else I'm watching, I might not have a choice. Besides, the commercials
during the horrible movie said the series version would be better than
the movie version, and they wouldn't lie during a commercial would they?

Whatever! You should not passively avoid the LA show but
complain to the CN. Everyone that prefers the animated to the
Live should complain.
If you don complain they won´t get it will they?

I think we're about to disagree on the meaning of "choice." :)

Perhaps his TV doesn't have an "off" button...

It's actually why I'm 'Occupying' YouTube and other video sites at the
moment - too many crappy animated series and not enough creative/rewarding
ones.

(I mean, when did robot families and six-armed female genies become taboo?)

I'll take a foot-handed supermodel over a generic politician/corporate exec
stomping on the downtrodden any day.

Or a power cord or a wall socket...

But knowing a bit about Arthur, I suspect that his tongue was firmly in
cheek when he typed that.

It's called a Thinly Disguised Pilot.

Lousy marketing will do that. This is also part of why Symbionic
Titan was doomed. See below.

>So why curse us with yet another live action show?

This one can be marketed, it fits their "zany" programing. Paul
Dini explains here why Tower Prep, Unnatural History as well as
Symbionic Titan eventually died:
