Hello All! Been a long time since I've been on here.

I've seen reports (and a Wikipedia article) that said that Time/Warner (WB) was (FINALLY)
going to release the "Censored 11" cartoons on DVD via their "Warner Archive" arm,
sometime in 2011. Well, here it is the end of 2011, and I can't seem to find it on their
archive collections.

Does anyone know if they ever did this? I know many of these were featured
in a private showing in 2010 (and, thus hopefully, fully restored), and just shortly
thereafter, the news articles started about them actually releasing the set. If they
did, and anyone knows how to order it on Warner Archives, I'd appreciate it.

Happy New Year, folks!

That's because it never happened and never was going to happen. If you go
back and read the original claim, it was by some guy who talked to some guy
at some Con. That's how it got started. Warners never did say they were
releasing it and have, in fact, said there are no plans to.

As usual, Wikipedia is as useful as a slingshot in a nuclear war.

Jim

Many thanks. I figured as much. It doesn't really matter to me, as I found all but
one of them (Uncle Tom's Bungalow) on YouTube, and even that one is featured
in full on the Wikipedia article with its name (sometimes, Wiki *is* good for some
things.. ;-) ).

The concern being that, hopefully, Warner is preserving/restoring them, even if they
don't currently plan to release them.

I think all of them are on YT, Arnold. I think I've seen them all at one
point.

I don't know about preserving or restoring, but I imagine they're in a vault
somewhere.

Hopefully not wasting away in that vault. Once the masters are gone, that's it.

I hope, at least, they might be part of the effort to restore the other shorts
as well. I don't ever intend for them to be released into the mainstream, but
for true collectors/historians, it's important to have them and to show what it
was like then. That, and at least the two Clampett shorts I think were unfairly
condemned. After all, he fought hard to have African American actors/musicians
participate in the productions. No disrespect to Mel Blanc, but it's unfortunate
that Blanc claimed exclusive rights to voice credits at the time.

Actually, he didn't. There are no voice credits on either of the Clampett
cartoons. No one was getting voice credits then at any of the studios.

He might have a credit on the last of the 11 (Goldilocks and the Jivin'
Bears), but it only seems to be available in a Blue Ribbon version without
any credits. But he's not credited on the other 10.
