Best and Worst of Cartoon Network in 2012

2012 was a landmark year for CN, but yet and still there were some
things that were done that kept it from being perfect and that can be
improved upon this year. Here are some of the things that come to mind
when I think of the good and bad qualities of CN in 2012.

Good:
Ratings contsistently increase
Regular Show wins an Emmy and becomes #1 in the boys (9-14)
demographic
CN actually peaked as the #1 channel above Disney and Nick back in the
summer
The 20th Birthday/ Anniversary celebration
Greenlighting 4 pilots (Steven Universe, Mars Safari, I Heart
Tuesdays, and Clarence)
Cutting back on live action shows
The Looney Tunes Show having a very entertaining second season


Bad:

Continuing to shove Level Up down our throats as if it actually
belongs
Not capitalizing on the opportunity to rebrand during the 20th
anniversary
The 20th anniversary; yes this was part of the reason that 2012 was
good but the blowoff was more than a disappointment. The results of
the online polls were a joke and the only thing more ridiculous than
the results were the polls themselves. Most of the Cartoon Cartoons
were void in the choices, and some got spotlighted more than others.
The lineups were dull and random as those lacked most of the Cartoon
Cartoons as well, and how the final lineup consisted of nothing but
Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Annoying Orange was a huge kick in
the nuts to cap off a series of slaps to the face that was the 20th
Anniversary. As a matter of fact, the main reason I even put it on my
good list is because Cartoon Network at the very least acknowledged
their history and put something together to celebrate the occasion,
but then again I wouldn't expect anything less in that department,
it's not like they're Nick or Disney. However, this will go down in
history as probably the most disappointing angle in the history of
this channel. They put a lot into the event, yet held back so much
more and that's what hurt the 20th anniversary IMO. Think of it sort
of as the "Invasion angle" of cartoons.
