Vintage Animation Art Collection
Comes to Westlake Village

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA柚ickey, Bugs, Daffy, Snow White, and literally
dozens of other cartoon stars will be on display in Westlake Village for
a reception and show in their honor.

S/R Laboratories Animation Art Conservation Center hosts its Spring 1997
20TH anniversary Animation Art Reception at the Westlake Hyatt on
Sunday, May 18, from Noon to 5:00 p.m.

"Over 450 individual pieces of animation history will be on display,"
explained Ron Stark, director of the world-renowned art conservation
lab. "The show will be a treat for the art historian, pop culturist, and
of course, the animation aficionado庸or everyone, in fact, who wants to
recapture the beloved images of their childhood and take advantage of
this rare opportunity to view such an exceptional collection of vintage
animation art."

Stark, father of animation art conservation and celebrating 20 years of
service to galleries, museums, collectors and dealers worldwide, has
been hosting these shows for more than a decade in Los Angeles and New
York. Now local residents have the chance of a lifetime to enjoy this
art form and to see actual pieces of film making history in person.

Artwork from Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio,
Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland, and many other beloved cartoons, feature
films, and short subjects from Disney and other studios will be on
display during this one-day event. Drawings, cels, original backgrounds,
and models are all included in the extensive collection.

"Most people are surprised the first time they see original animation
artwork in person," Stark said. "They are accustomed to seeing it on the
screen and tend to think of its as being rather simple. They are usually
quite taken with its extraordinary artistic qualities, subtlety, and
great appeal. I don't think anyone should miss the chance to see this
art in person."

The collection will be offered for sale the following week through S/R's
unique auction sale.

"All of the artwork is featured in a beautiful full-color catalog," Chad
Lortie, show coordinator, said. "We are the only ones to regularly
produce a full-color catalog that includes each piece in the show."

The artwork on display will include a major pieces from Walt Disney's
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, concept paintings and drawings, and
other rare objects. The value of the entire collection is well over half
a million dollars.

S/R Laboratories, for the last two decades, has been the front-runner in
assisting collectors in building important and distinctive collections.
Visitors to the exhibit will receive first-hand experience with real
animation art and be able to learn from the experts how to properly
identify fine art. Too, S/R Labs publishes Lab Notes©, information
monographs on the important issues facing collectors and the art itself
today. The Lab Notes will be available free at the exhibition.
