Antifreeze Producer Promotes Anti-Hunting Group, Leaves Sportsmen in the Cold- (10/23) National
As winter approaches and people begin to prepare their vehicles for the cold weather, the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance wants to alert sportsmen that getting a good deal on PEAK and SIERRA brands of antifreeze and deicer could jeopardize America's hunting heritage.
A rebate offered with the purchase of assorted PEAK Performance Products will credit buyers $1 to $2 per gallon of product. A section on the rebate form allows consumers to donate their rebate to the American Humane Association (AHA).
The AHA opposes all hunting and trapping. This year, it demonstrated its opposition to outdoor sports by supporting federal legislation, HR 1472, to ban bear hunting over bait. It called the practice "unsporting, unethical, and barbaric." It also supports Congressional legislation, HB 1800, to ban trapping.
Take Action! Sportsmen should contact Old World Industries, Inc., the company that produces PEAK and SIERRA antifreezes. Tell the company that its promotion of the AHA, an anti-hunting organization, is unacceptable to sportsmen across the nation and should be stopped immediately. Make sure Old World Industries knows that the AHA has an agenda to end America's outdoor heritage, thus destroying over 100 years of wildlife conservation practices. Send your comments to Mr. James Bryan, President, Old World Industries, Inc., 4065 Commercial Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062. Phone: (847) 559-2000. Toll Free (800) 323-5440. Fax (847) 559-2266.
Keep in mind that the best way to make an impression is to send messages using telephone or fax machine. Phones ringing off the hook and busy fax machines make poignant statements.

You know... I find it hard to believe that 100,000 pets die from ingesting antifreeze each year. Do you think it's possible? I would suggest to consumers that they take better care of what they do with their old and new antifreeze. I just can't see their stats actually happening unintentionally. Maybe it's strategy to market their products? Not to mention that it says it's less toxic... that doesn't mean that it isn't toxic. Anyhow, don't mean to open a new can of worms but I think that if you dig a little deeper you might see a little more to it all.
Maybe so but as long as they do not give money to the Humane Society I don't really care too, too much. We all need antifreeze and I for one do not want my purchase contributing to a group that is working to end trapping and hunting.

Let's just clear a few things up. I didn't say antifreeze wouldn't kill dogs or animals. I just find their stats a little high let alone odd. If the numbers are that high then why don't we hear about it through the humaine society up here in Canada? They certainly let us know about everything else. If the numbers are that high.. then there must be alot of leaking cooling systems on cars... I mean systems that are just puking it out...It sounds to me like someone is dummying up numbers. I know alot of farmers and they use normal antifreeze. I've yet to see puddles on their farms either... so where is all this antifreeze coming from that's killing all those animals?????????? Let's not forget that they say 100,000 PETS... a year... Like I said the first time.... doesn't seem right to me..

> Actually Pets DO. Antifreeze is very sweet.
