two-day cycle of illness in a cat

My sister's cat has been treated for hyperthyroidism for
a while now, and not long ago had an ultrasound which
indicated enlarged lymph nodes which indicated lymphoma.
Currently it is being treated with tapazole and
prednisone. However it could not tolerate high doses
of prednisone needed to suppress its immune system before
starting chemotherapy; it lost the use of its hind legs on
those high doses, so it will not go on chemotherapy.
it is probably 18 years old (or maybe a year or two
younger) but my sister wants to wait a while yet
before euthanizing it.
It has had an unusual two-day cycle. One day it will
throw up and have bloody diarrhea over a period of
a few hours, then we have to wait another 2--3
hours before feeding it. The next day it will be
fine. And despite the diagnosis of lymphoma it
isn't going downhill very fast. (Also maybe it
has some component of irritable bowel syndrome.)
The last few days though it has moved from the
two-day cycle to a one-day cycle of throwing up
and diarrhea in the morning and early afternoon,
followed by a wait of a couple of hours before
it can be given its food and medication. It
has been gradually losing weight.
Have you observed similar cycles in other cats?
Do you have any suggestions for us? Of course
we have dealt with vets offline as well.

I don't think you can diagnose lymphoma from enlarged lymph nodes, a
biopsy would be needed. If the cat does have lymphoma, intestinal
issues may be related to it.

I hope your sister is monitoring the quality of health in this cat. At
some point she'll have to send him on to alleviate suffering.

The cat is dying and there is not making that a happy day while inside
of it. Dying really sucks ... well it has never been happy for me when
I was doing it.
